Default 3" Turbo Back Exhaust for MY97 Type R

I am looking for a turbo back exhaust system for a MY97 Type R.

Currently has a Kakimoto N1 back box with and unknown centre section and unknown downpipe. Its VERY loud. I need something a little quieter, but not too quiet!

Needs to be a full 3" inch system.

Not looking for a cheap eBay type deal, but a proper exhaust!

I like the Blitz Nur Spec R back box, but it seems the centre section that Blitz also manufacture is 3" most of the way, then tapers to 2.5" to connect to the OEM downpipe, so no good for me.

I understand that some new age exhausts will fit the classic, just and extra exhaust hanger on the back box that will need to be cut off to fit. But what about the rest of the system, centre section and downpipe?

Cheers

Don't you want this in the wanted area?

I wouldn't bother fitting a newage system on a classic.

I run a Jap speed on mine, after nearly 8 years and all the anti lag abuse and catching in speed bumps due to how low my car is it is now starting to show signs of degradation. Wouldn't hesitate to fit another one though.

Track and ear friendly too

I was under the impression that Japspeed stuff was not of good quality. Or is that only their headers that are no good?

What about Cobra exhaust systems, anyone have an experience with those?

Also ran Jap speed headers on mine at over 500hp. Can't fault the stuff for the price. They are exactly the same material and design as the rcm ones etc you pay double for. They are all gonna break sooner or later at least it doesn't hurt as much if you haven't paid rcm tax....

My Jap speed exhaust has done menough well and I'd happily buy another one for my car. It's leaking in the mid pipe due to the heat and the back ox is now leaking from scraping speed bumps. But I'm not upset as it didn't cost much. Yours won't make anywhere near the heat mine does

Dont know where he got that info from but I have a newage tomei exhaust on my classic and have no issues. If you want a nice sweet sounding that is 3" all the way to the dp, look for a HKS Hyper

Looked at the HKS exhaust, looks OK, not so sure about the lower quality steel that they use for the centre section, it has a black coating to protect/hide the lower quality steel.

Seen some COBB downpipes, but further investigation leads me to believe that there will be an issue fitting a COBB downpipe due to difference in length between USDM and JDM downpipes!

Anyone confirm that?

Haywood and Scott for me. Full 3" from downpipe. Sounds awesome.
