Default Returning to the subaru fold soon

Had a blob wrx awhile ago and sold it to get the bmw coupe i currently drive but have the impreza itch again and want to go down the STI route this time, now i may have upto 12k to spend and like the look of the hawks but have heard so many horror stories about them that i think itll be a blob sti, whats peoples thoughts on the two cars please? yes i know theres alot of threads about the pistons on the hawks but do they fail more so when the cars tuned or in standard sti form?

Is there any negative sides then to the jdm as that sounds alot more logical to go for one that wont have expensive problems to sort
