Help!!! Advice on Over rev.
Hi, my 52 plate wrx bug has started over revving when changing gear, when I'm accelerating to about 3-4 k revs and change up/down and lift off the throttle the engine revs up an extra 300+ revs when i put the clutch in.
Any ideas.
Thanks in advance.

Mine does the same
I would be interested to no what causes this also...
I haven't done much in terms of engine mod work on my spec c 03 but I was pulling in to the petrol station the other day I dropped the clutch as I was coming to a stop and it starting to over Rev for about 2/3 seconds then dropped back to normal.... Never done it before... Then a cupple of days later I was moving slow in second, revs at a reasonable level and it started juddering I'm sure the two issues are related...
I was sure it must be clutch related but would also like to no what causing the over Rev...

I have a used replacement ICV on order as a new one is around £200+ so I want to confirm that's deffo the problem before I buy a brand new one.
Well I've decided the first thing I'm gonna do is clean the Icv, the 2 screws are a pig to get off but found a little technique
and they came straight off...
Icv now removed, just ordered a new gasket as the old one mis shapes as soon as you take the Icv off... And will give it a proper clean up with some carb cleaner... And then see what happens once I put it all back together....

I havent seen anywhere that says it needs beading, tbh only a small amount comes out, just put some kitchen roll on top and bottom and un do the screw slowly once there free just do it saves the coolant going everywhere, just put it all back together with the new gasket in place,
I did read that it's best to take it for a drive off boost to allow the gasket to settle properly then check it for leaks, then take it for another drive with alittle boost and then again check for leaks again.

try cleaning the throttle body out with carb cleaner, if its carboned up its possible its making the icv over compensate as the revs drop when the throttle butterfly valve doesn't shut properly because of the carbon
Mine has done it every now and then since I bought it and had a new clutch and flywheel fitted 2 months after and it still does it.... but I have found it stops or seems to stop once it gets nice and hot

, I thought it was me mistiming the change . Mine doesn't do it often , maybe because I don't drive it often although its definitely there .
but gave the long answer lol
