Default Fuel starvation problem

Had a problem happen a couple of times since we bought the car eight years ago, when turning right out of a junction and full bore acceleration, as soon as I've gone into second gear the car has lost most of its power. Did it tonight, probably about the third time it's done it, the first time was shortly after we bought it and I took a workmate up the road to show him what it went like.

Fuel level was very low tonight, can't remember what level it was the other times. I am guessing it is just where the fuel had moved in the tank and the fuel pump momentarily had no juice. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced similar.

Common problem, especially when on less than quarter tank of fuel.
Depending on which fuel pump/sock filter you have on as well.
Walbro pumps have a short filter/sock and are the worst, the oem one is a lot longer so most people put that one back on when using walbro pumps.
You will notice that most people who track their Impreza fit a swirl pot and external pump as hard cornering will always cause fuel starvation on a less than half full tank.

As jay says,poor tank design

Don't give it beans under 1/4 tank. The fuel starvation can cause it to run lean, and detting is the result.
