I have had a few problems lately with snapped bolts etc with my Brembos, at the moment I dont trust that I wont have the same hassle next time I need to change pads.

I was wondering if anybody had made the change from Sti Brembos to Ap Racing 4 pots and if there was an improvement in braking or if I should stick with the Brembos?

Get some yellow stuff pads with braided hoses if not already done or carbon lorraine pads. Speak to Ian @ godspeed. I run carbon lorraine and think they are Awsome.

I will never buy ebc pads again. I had them on my RS and they contaminated the discs after several laps at Silverstone, I put this down to overheating and the brake fluid boiling up. I fitted yellow stuff to my ra with racing fluid. Faded like a sob and ended up with blue heat marks on the discs, ruined! On the road they were noisey and grabby.
Carbon lorraine RC5 pads have been superb all rounders but they wear pretty quick.
Back to the op; have you had the threads repaired? If they have been time inserts they should be fine if the correct torque is applied. Maybe use a little copper grease on assembly? Alyn @asperformance might have stainless steel bolts?

I might add that the yellow stuff pads looked like broken biscuits when I changed them half worn.

 

THIS!!!,On brembo calipers the Performance Friction two piece disc set up with Z-rated pads is hard to beat,but if you have the extra monies then the ap set up are one of if not the best calipers for your money.SJ.

 

I changed to AP four pots on my sprint/ time attack car, massive improvement. One of the best upgrades I made TBO.

 

Whatever pad you choose copper greese is your friend when putting the caliper back together

 

Used both on a classic sti, and the APs are a different level of braking performance!

 

I went from Brembos to AP 4 pots, night and day!

 

Many thanks guys, will I be limited as to pad choices? I will never try EBC again, had them before and all I got was judder.
