pipe on intercooler front?

pipe on intercooler front?
what is the metal pipe running along front of sti 8 intercooler for? mine has been removed and replaced with a rubber pipe under intercooler.

Just a breather pipe mate. Cant see any problems with yours having been replaced with silicon hose unless it kinks

It's a breather pipe that is supposed to feed back into the inlet. Silicon/rubber pipes are usually fitted when a FMIC is installed and often don't get fed into the inlet but back into the sump or just dumped to atmosphere.

think it is because it had a turbosmart dump valve on and apparently it gets in way. anyone got a spare breather pipe?
