Default What power can I run?

Looking at getting my car mapped, want it reliable but also want it fast, what power should I get it mapped to?

And where should I take it?

Spec:

tdo5 turbo
hdi fmic
Apexi air filter
Nismo 555 injectors
Fuel lab fuel pressure reg
Rcm headers
Hks cat back (decat)
Apexi fc ecu
Walbero 255 fuel pump
5speed short ratio box

It's not going to be mapped to a certain horse power, it will make what it's safe to make.

All depends how they work together as all engines and set ups are different regardless if they are the same spec .

Alright mate cheers, where should I take it? My closest tuning garage is indigo gt and I've only ever heard good things from them but they are evo specialists

ditch the apexi ecu, theyre **** old technology and been made extinct by ESL. You'll find more people willing to supply and map ESL than map an apexi that will come to you like Duncan Graham, Andrew Carr, Bob Rawle etc.

Nothing wrong with an Apexi ecu but I do agree it's abit old hat these days, but would still do the job esl being the more superior ecu and does have more functions, but if you have the Apexi already just use it as you will still make the numbers for those mods.SJ.

If its the original engine, I wouldn't push it too far but that spec on a healthy engine would see in the region of 330-340bhp

If you bolt on an STI high rise spoiler, you will get an extra 70bhp

ESL/Apexi to alkatec is prob a better idea than both of them. bit more money, but a considerable upgrade

You say you have a "short ratio box - what is the applied model and gearbox codes (found on the OSF suspension turret)?
You could go to Powerstation in Tewkesbury, Bob Rawle in Swindon or get one of the mobile mappers to come to you.
We have a meet in Cardiff in a few weeks, why not pop along. I know a few of the owners are going up to Bob Rawle soon and you may want to hear what they have to say.

Had the heads off/block apart to confirm that it's a CDB and standard/correct internals? Never assume anything.

I would look at the brakes and suspension before adding more power

The Apexi is extremely basic. One ignition map, one fuel map and one number to control boost.

Add in the cost of an AVCR for 3d boost and a larger MAF as you have to retain one and it is an expensive options as well.

Lack of knock control and diagnostics on a road car are also big disadvantages.

Can max out a green label maf with that spec, been there a few times.
Z32 maf and plug if staying on power fc.
No mention of a boost controller though so you'll only be able to run circa. 1.2 bar due to the stock early map sensor, maf will be fine at that boost level.
By the time you've bought the add ons you'll need to make it worthwhile paying the money for mapping you may as well sell on the pfc and pay someone to supply, fit and map Esl.
It's a more cost effective and comprehensive solution.

My wagon ran 320 bhp with an apexi an commander for 2 years and never missed a beat. Fit a later spec map sensor and its all good. Never had a single issue with the maf either.
