Absolutely Gutted!
Well I've had a crap week. Got rear ended and pushed into the car in front! I would imagine its a write off!
It's creased the nearside c-pillar and closed the shut line to the rear door.
Rear wheel well is creased, both rear quarters creased. Bonnet slightly creased where I was pushed into the freelander in fronts spare wheel, and damaged my prodrive front bumper grill and put a hole in the bumper from the tow bar.
I'm devastated, has so many plans for it!

I was about 6/7 cars back in traffic at some lights. The car in front edged forward and so did I. He stopped and then I stopped. A couple of seconds later and BANG. Guy admitted fault straight away and a witness stopped and left details who was behind the guy that hit me.

100% a write off. Just a rear quarter alone is £700 and that's not welded and painted.
So game over for that car but as people have said you could re shell it... but that's quite a bit of hassle to be honest unless you are the project type of person with room, tools, and knowledge.
As you were hit from behind it would be impossible to not be the fault of the guy behind you. So you are covered there. You will even get your excess back. Make sure you argue the value to the hilt. Don't take the first offer. They will give you more if you argue.
The only downside is that if you do want to buy it back the amount it costs is a percentage of what they gave you. So the more they give you the more it costs to buy back.
It happened to me with my first car (pride and joy at the time) by a bloke who was just over the drink drive limit (white van man had a few after work) by the time he got to the police station and booked in he blew under.
As it's an STI it may be worth more in parts then it costs to buy back so find out how much of your payout it will cost to get it back and by the time you factor in the six speed and engine, unbent body kit/work parts, exhaust, suspension it may make you a few bob. And as much as it hurts look at it as an opportunity to buy something to replace it which is new and special.
All the best and try not to dwell!

Thanks for the advice FMJ.
Just wondering what people think my car would be worth pre-accident. Spec is as follows:
-2004 (53) Wrx Sti Type Uk
-Just hit 60k with FSH
-I'm the 3rd owner (previous 2 brothers who signed the car over during a divorce)
-TSL Motorsport TSL333 pack fitted 2005 which consisted of:
--Green cotton panel filter (I replaced like for like at last service)
--TSL Motorsport 3" exhaust system with high flow sports cat
--Uprated fuel pump
--Ecutek Remap
--PSI3 Ecutek data monitor (which I'm going to remove from the car)
--Turbosmart supersonic dump valve
-new clutch at 50k apparently Exedy just before my purchase
-Godspeed grooved disc/Kevlar pads fitted approx 1k ago
-Tegiwa alloy radiator fitted less than 2 years
-Prodrive front bumper grill like on wr1 but plastidipped black/matching mesh on upper grill
-"v" limited style front splitter
-Genuine JDM impreza front grill badge only 2 weeks old.
The car is very original, all original panels stamped Subaru/chassis number, all matching glass even original subaru stamped windscreen. Paperwork has lots of receipts and every tax disc from new has been kept, car came with original dealer numberplates too which I replaced but kept safe. It has a few age related marks (dents/light scratches) as it's a daily.
Here's a thread I started a while back.

I'm hoping for £8k so that I could replace it as prices seem to have rocketed as of late. I'd appreciate any advice.

Id be very surprised if they gave you anything near that for the car, I guarantee the first offer will be half of that(4k), Might be worth printing a few for sale adverts with same mileage spec as yours and worth quite a bit to show them thats the going price for a clean blob STi.

If it's written off then you need a VIC to get a new log book and to tax the car! So you can still drive it but come tax time you wont get a reminder and then when you go to tax it the system won't let you and without tax you are obviously stuffed. I have done it myself recently.
I doubt as the OP had it so immaculate he would be able to put up with bent panels... but it would make a great track car.

Mates car had exactly the same sort of thing and just wasn't worth even buying it back. Never take the first offer they make though, haggle a bit
Take the payout and then if you can get it back for under 2k take that and strip it for parts, I wouldn't want to be driving that on the road again that's for sure.

Fairly sure that's wrong mate.

Edit: a vic check is just that a identy check they just check the id numbers its not to do any repairs or safty checks and you dont even need one untill the logbook changes hands

it looks to have shunted the rear pillar so i highly doubt it will ever see the road again no mater the cost of repair. Looks like whole rear end may have slightly rotate under the car.

Had simiar damage in my old car the other partys insurance paid up my company contiued to insure me i diddnt even have to send the log book off after it was cat c'd i diddnt bother to do any repairs as the back bumper wernt as bad as that, but still i highly doubt that its unsafe for the road but its up to the op what he does not us!

If it's Cat C it needs a VIC. Not immediately but as I have said already you CANNOT tax it without the VIC being done. Yes I know the VIC is a pointless check of the VIN number. It does not cover the repairs at all. But it's a legal requirement.
