I agree with Octane Man check out DVLA before you do anything. I bought mine there last year for £500 and was quoted £1200 + VAT from an independant company for the same reg that DVLA owned anyway. Unless you want someting very specific dont waste your cash and go to DVLA direct. Its fun searching through their site anyway - lots of options .

I can not recomend "Midland Registrations"
I paid them £2000 for 22B EGO. Several months before the car was landed in the UK.
Then they discover what a 22B is and decide that they can get funny!
They tell me the registaration has gone through and I put on my plate.
3 months later I am stopped The police inform me that my plates are wrong!
they tell me the plates are registered to another car, I exlain that I had bought the plate etc....... Midland Registrations say:"oh yeah the donor vehicle pulled out at the last minute"! "WHAT"!
I use my connections find the original owner offer him £2000, he refuses and only wants £1000 which is what Midland Registrations were due to pay him. BUT THEY NEVER PAID HIM despite having had my money for 6 months!
So we compromise as I am desperate to "own" the 22B EGO plate and he accepts £1500 plus incidental costs.
It took watch-dog and some heavy legal friends to get Midland Registrations to re-imburse me
