Default Very excited, but also worried!

Well, after what seems like a very long week (and an eternal 4 weeks searching) i'll be going to buy and pickup my new motor tomorrow. It seems it's quite well known on this forum having been owned from what I can gather by Peter A, then Bodski, then Lucko, and from tomorrow myself. A JDM Hawk STI.

I phoned Gary at keith michaels today to go ahead with his quotation, he ran through everything again, took my card details and then said right thats it done. I was like "will i get a cover note through, am i insured from today then?" - His response "We'll send you one in the post and yes".... it just seemed extremely quick for a 2 minute phone call to be insured just like that. Anyway the payment has been taken.

What worries me is that i dont even know if i am insured, i'm so used to getting an instant cover note through on email, but if i were stopped in the car all i can really say is "ermmm, yeah im insured with keith michaels" and that's it. I have nothing else to go by other than Gary saying on the phone "yeah that's it".... I know i may sound a bit of a worrier but that's just me i suppose.

Anyway, i'm going to take his word for it that i am insured!!! And look forward to picking up the car tomorrow

Car looks lovely.
Keith michaels have a good reputation on here so I'm sure you'll be ok.
I think you can check th MID to check if a car is insured tho.

Yeah problem is it just doesnt tell you whos insurance, so it could be who im buying it off, if that makes sense. Anyway as has been said sure im covered and payment has been taken so probably just over thinking it as im so used to getting a cover note.

I did ask about email but he just said no and i'm covered and i'll get one in post. As i say just seemed a little odd, nothing untoward, service was second to none and yes he can be hard to get hold of, and emailing is pointless you wont receive a response, you have to phone him directly but out of the 4 times i phoned him he answered twice so no issues from my side of things, probably just because i always go with insurer rather than broker than it seems a bit odd to me, but anyway as i say sure it's all fine.

Don't worry
Gary is bigger then God
Every thing will be sorted if he says it is

I wouldn't even discuss a price with Gary just gave him my card details

Now get a list together what your going to do to that smart motor

You'll be more than ok. Moley is spot on. I'd be more worried about the petrol bill in the first few weeks

Just sold my e92 m3 mate, i really hope it isn't worse than that If i was on it (which you really have to be at 8k with those things constantly) i'd see 140 miles from a full tank. I'm sure when i calculated it that was an average of about 10mpg. It really did like the juice.... Anyway, smiles per gallon not miles per gallon n all that!

Well done - it looks cracking and you have done a good job sourcing it. I've been looking for longer than 4 weeks and I didn't see it come up.

Well, picked her up, paid the monies, love the car. Drives completely differently to a UK car, pulls and pulls and pulls and just wants to go. Done a tank and a half in this afternoon, only 1 niggle is that the front washer doesnt squirt, the rear is fine, front doesnt even make a noise, just dead, any ideas? fuse? motor? etc.

Also, i really need to get used to not putting my wipers on everytime i turn a corner

On my JDM I thought my washer had gone as when I pulled the stalk just the wipers went,I then discovered the button on the end of the stalk was for the washers lol
Mines a classic but just thinking it might be the same?

I've just read this on another post!!! Off out to check, i've had 2 major fails today, first one was whatsapping lucko whilst half way up the m6 because of a constant loud beeping noise, turned out it was my phone in my jacket pocket on back seats, i have a feeling this is number 2 The car is awesome though, have to admit

I actually was meant to be on a stag do this afternoon, ended up getting back too late at 4pm as took an hour to get out of stafford but to be fair not so fussed, just means i'll be fresh tomorrow to play some more

It has, i can confirm the button on the stalk makes my windows wet haha. These JDM's are friggin backwards!

Anyone know what the little black keypad is for? And the button on the right of the IC Spray with the little red light on it?

Now done 2 tanks in 1 day, need to park it up for a bit, i think it's done more miles today than the last 3 years.

Quick Reply: Very excited, but also worried!
