Totally agree good quality jdm cars are a good buy we also need to understand that the newer STis such as hatch backs are no where near the drivers cars of the older saloon cars. The uk hatches are cheaper than older jdm cars. As the jdm cars get older the less there will be on the road due to crashes and breaking etc both here and in Japan so therefore become more desirable and hold there money better. I also think that now the economy is on the up more people have got more spare cash for there toys.

Not many subarus on the roads now on sleepy Cumbria
Only ever see an odd one on a Sunday
Even the chavs at the cruises don't have them compared to 3/4 years ago as they move onto turbo deasels and fiestas /clios
Even well maintained examples like my my00 has got the standard rusty rear arches despite garaged and washed and polished weekly so big refurbishment bills are coming
I sure the classics will go up to value like RS in the next ten years
Anyone with classics should now spend serious money in rust prevention and I'm sure bug eyes which were a sales disaster in 2001/2 will rise as not many about

Be interested what the general opinion my car is worth these days, I have a rough idea but I think it'd be really hard to replace it if I regretted it.
This is not a for sale advert btw, I don't know what I'd replace it with to be honest and think I'd regret it. Just interested and I've always said cars like this will be worth good money in years to come. You've got to remember what the prices are like on some older iconic performance cars, there ARE cars all around us now that one day you will kick yourself and say "they were only £xk once. I personally think that certain Impreza classic models will be worth big money in 10 years plus. Evo 5/6 too.
MY00 STI Version 6 saloon
70k
Dark Mica blue pearl (I have never seen another saloon in this colour)
All the original V6 parts (higher spoiler, totally original undamaged v6 front lip etc)
AP 4 pot front brakes
Full exhaust upgrade
ECUTEK remap at graham Goode
Gauge pod with oil pressure, temp and boost, greddy, blitz)
Decent private plate (I've been offered 1k for)
17" OZ P1 wheels with proper tyres
Eibach springs
White line rear ARB
Best bit about is car is it's got virtually a full service history, folder of stuff. Came over here when nearly new with print out of the advert sitting in showroom etc. I've had it a couple of years and it gets serviced every 6 months regardless of miles.

I'd say somewhere around the £5k mark maybe slightly more to the right buyer.
BUT I'd hang in there a couple of years as it won't be long before it's more like £7k for nice ones with good history, even miles aren't such a big issue as there are plenty with double what yours is showing.

Thanks. That's sort of my feelings really regarding hanging on to it. If I had the money to invest if be buying nice V6 type R's for future investment.
Only thug I really like the idea of that I've never owned is a circa 2001 RS4 (twin turbo one) but these old Imprezas certainly give a lot of bang for the buck and selling a nice one is hard. It's finding a replacement when you regret it!
