I loved my Legacy Turbo - came to the UK from late 91J to mid 95M ( a few late N reg) and mine was a 93K.

As usual, most have fallen to rust - thought seriously about an estate that came up for sale on Gumtree last year

Made the mistake of swapping it in for a new Impreza Sport in 1997 as I couldn't afford a turbo and the wait was 9 months.

Knew I'd made a mistake as soon as the 'new car feeling' had worn off.

The Legacy's extra weight and size made it feel very planted and a good continental blaster. Very laggy in the wrong gear (like earlier classic Imprezas) but brilliant at being a WTF / Q car !

I have a complete stock legacy turbo too, as i use in the winter. not even aftermarket exhaust or increased boost. I bet they where pretty fookin quick back in the early 90s, my winter legacy is a 92 and the red one a 93.

Bought that winter legacy 1.5 years ago and has not even changed the oil on it No problems what so ever except the rust which i repaired with duct tape

Isn't that a bit like saying "there must be a 1.8GL Impreza mark 1 out there somewhere I could stick a turbo engine in" .. and brakes, suspension, wheels, interior etc etc ?

Oskar - nice Legacies.

My old one was used in Performance Car's (or was it Evo?) Legacy Turbo used buyers guide not long after I traded it in.

Mixed emotions of totally gutted and very proud when I saw it !
Even had the slim LED centre light I'd squeezed under the rear spoiler
