Default KYB Ultra SR Shock Absorbers or D2 Racing Coilovers

Hi,

I've got knocking rear shocks on a MY05 STI and going to change the rear suspension to sort this out.

My two options are the KYB shocks as direct replacement and leave suspension completely standard, or

D2 Racing Coilovers (from Japshop.co.uk) which work out at about £400 more than just the rear shocks.

Any opinions on what's the best way forward, are D2's too harsh?

I've read about the BC ones are too hard etc.

Normal driving is on ok roads, don't thrash it everywhere but will be doing the odd track day each year (2 max)

Thanks all

KYB's and Eibachs here. You might as well fit steel rods instead of coilovers unless your on glass smooth roads or a race track.

i had meister r's on mine and they were spot on. the softest setting was probs softer than standard. about the same price to BC's and D2s too.

Ive got ultra sr's on my 2004 blob sti, i cant fault them at all, the car sits nice, is comfortable on the road and great if pushed through the twisties. I cant comment on the d2 coilovers as ive never used them, however ive never seen the need to fit coilovers on a road going car anyway.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I think I'll just go with the KYB's then, cheaper and easier.

The only reason I thought possibly about coilovers was if they were going to magically transform the car for not much more money than the new shocks but doesn't seem worth it. I don't want it to be much harsher than the ride already is.
