Advice please!
Hi all, I'm new to the forum. I'm looking to possibly swap my current car for a scooby. I would like to get a bit of info as to which are the best for my price range. I will have about £7.5-8k to spend roughly and would like the model after the bug eye one, sorry don't know its reference. I do like the hawk eye ones but don't think I can afford it. Which engines are best, 2.0-2.5L? Which are easier to tune and more reliable? I like the look of the wrx sti so that's what I'm after ideally. Any help will be much appreciated thanks in advance

Personally if it was me I would go for the prodrive bugeye sti, but as your not fond of them you will be best going with an 03 possibly 04 blobeye sti.
As rb5 stu has said they are in a 2.0 engine which are more reliable than most hawk 2.5 engines. As for tuning a simple filter and remap should see you 330+ bhp on the sti engine
Hope this help clarify some things for you Greg

If you have some mechanical know how and comfortable modding a car yourself there is a nice howto on here to convert a bug eye to a blob eye look i think the bill came to about 500/600 quid in the end.
I found when i was looking for my Subaru, that bugs are less in price then blobs with similar milage, shop around and have a look + you never know bugs can grow on you specially with an sti front, it does look rather good. (my pers opinion)
