New member looking for a Blobeye WRX
Hi there,
Just joined as I'm looking to buy a Blobeye WRX. Is there anything I should look for in particular when buying one and should I avoid high mileage cars?
Cheers.
Norrie.

The Blob WRX is a great car and IMO better than an STI. JDM Newage WRX is even better if your willing to be patient and source one.

I'd prefer a standard one but don't mind an aftermarket exhaust, wheels etc. Don't want one that's been tuned to the max as it's going to be an everyday car doing 75 Miles a day.
Thanks.

May be worth considering one with PPP (Prodrive Performance Pack).
With any performance car they can be ragged to death then passed on to another owner so making sure it has FSH, this is fundamental. Check the history carefully.
The running costs can be quite high.
When buying be patient & be prepared to walk away because if you purchase the wrong car it can be a black hole, literally.
Make a list of requirements & stick to it (colour, budget, aftermarket parts etc)
Unless you are a mechanic or useful with cars take someone with you who is.
Be prepared to barter it's part of the overall experience, but don't insult with silly offers.
Good luck

I've got a blob wrx (this is my 2nd one). I bought it 2 years ago with over 100k on the clock and extensive SH. it was bog standard and felt nippy, I had it on the rolling road and it had 242bhp (should be 225bhp)
the wrx suits my need better than an STI that costs twice the price (and 'yes' I could afford one). the gearing is longer, mpg is better, it weighs less, softer suspension.
it's easy to increase the bhp too. a new turbo, injectors, decat up-pipe, fuel pump and a remap. you should get 320+bhp for a grand. and before the STI boys start, the STI has the turbo and injectors fitted as standard, and the STI can get 340+bhp with a fuel pump and a remap (£400+)

I wouldn't use one for that mileage, but a wrx with ppp is a very good car, I used to own one and other mods I would advise is sti front brakes and wheels, I have since changed to a jdm sti but don't regret owning my wrx one bit. Get a spare set of wheels with winter tyres and you will be surprised how capable they are in the winter as well.

I have wrx with lpg, i think for 75 miles a day blobs are to loud inside , not sure hawk is the same.
Before fitment check which vaporizer and injectors they fit, should be good for 60hp or more each unless they put 8 not 4.
70l cylinder is max which could fit , ive got 60, 70 were out of stock.
Cambelt parts 200 plus change 110-120 than it is not 600 like post above.

The guy I plan to use has converted a lot of WRX's. We've got a Forester that he done and he said it would be more expensive to have the WRX done as he would have to fit bigger and faster injectors. I run a MR2 Roadster at the moment that does 40 mpg so on running the WRX on gas shouldn't be any more expensive to run. Yes I could run a diesel but I don't think it would be much cheaper to run as diesel is twice the price of LPG. Plus where's the fun in that? I am also considering a 2 Litre Sport.

I'd forget the 2.0l sport, they're pretty gutless as standard and quite expensive to mod, also use about the same amount of fuel as a WRX, slightly better but not by a huge amount. If you take it easy you should see early 30's, but considering your location you'll probably get mid to late 20's mpg.

As I say I plan on getting it converted to run on gas. If I get 25mpg on gas I'd be happy as that's probably the equivalent of about 45mpg.
