That's not bad for the money. The older shape Evos do have a certain appeal.

The VW o2m gearbag is 700hp capable, transfer bag is bullet proof too.
Same said for Toyota GT4 bag. Just wondered how good the evo bag was?

Oh you mean the gearbox! Why didn't you say? I wondered why you were asking about gearbags.

Yay. How strong? I take it the rusty old thing in the link has a five speed in it?

I've never driven an Evo, but on paper and all the reviews, give and take, the Evo's always come out on top. But only just mind you.

If Evos didn't cost so much i would have one. Are they really worth the extra premium?

For the money STI's seem to be a better choice to me.

I guess you have to ask yourself, "rusty boot floor and broken transfer box or middle end bearings knocking?"

Depends what you want from a car.. And what do you compare it to.

All scooy scene waffles , same nonsense as on MLR regards scoobies, most had wrx's and compare a much better base that evo is to them .. 5 speeds are stronger than 6 speeds on evo's , but they're much cheaper to repair .

Depends what Evo!! Its like saying is a "WRX better then a Type RA"??? there different models they might look the same from the outside but you know the Type RA is different underneath(better)!!!

Same goes for Evo's, GSR's are just your common entry level Evo and personally I find them boring, But a RS or GT spec Evo, these are your proper drivers cars(a bit like a Type RA, Spec c etc etc is Impreza terms)

If you ever get a chance to drive a Evo 6 GSR and Evo 6 RS back to back you will know what I mean!!

Sorry everyone, I meant that STI Scoobies in comparison to equivalent Evo's seem to always have Evo's slightly ahead in most reviews and on paper. With some STI's scoring ahead on some stuff, but as an overall car Evo's just seem to get it each time by the skin of their teeth.

That's why i think with the big jump in cost from an STI to the equivalent model Evo, the STI's are much better value for money.

If i had the money I would definitely have an Evo. At some point in the future, and when the income allows, i will probably sell my STI and get an Evo. Just to see what its like :-)

I'm sure Evo drivers must feel the same about Scoobies, that they have to have a Scooby at some point, to make the comparison for themselves.

Evo 6 GSR vs Classic STi Version 4/5/6
Evo 6 RS vs Classic Type R/RA
Evo 7 RS/Sprint vs bugeye S202
Evo 8 260 vs Blobeye STi
Evo 8/9 RS/GT vs Impreza Spec C/Type RA
Evo 8/9 FQ320 vs Impreza RB320
Evo 8/9 FQ300 vs Impreza STi PPP
Evo X FQ400 vs Hatch Cosworth

I could not put the WRX against any Evo as the base/slowest model Evo(8 260) is probably on par with a standard blob STi(265bhp), I dont think they make a Evo to compete against the WRX!!!

I thought the gsr ha small brakes, small wheels, small spoiler and a five speed box like the wrx? The 225 vs 260 hp isn't the be all end all, both are very slow.
What are prices like in comparison to the models above?

Also what about the fact an evo has a great big heavy lump of cast iron above the front wheels? Not as poised and nimble as the impreza with it's low slung lightweight flat four

Evo RS models come with small brakes, small steelie style wheels, crap interior(Nissan micra seats) black un-painted wing mirrors/door handles, as they where a base model for the rally cars, also come without the AYC that the other Evo models had(much better stronger diff in the RS)!!!

A clean 15 year old Evo 6 RS is going to cost you around £10k, Evo 9 GT/RS anything from £13-18k, a 6 GSR 5-9k, prices are like Impreza's, you going to pay through the nose for a low mileage minter, and high mileage rough tat not a lot!!

I had a pulsar gti-r lightweight thing with steelies, black mirrors, keep fit windows etc, like rs.
I do like evo's
I think a Toyota celica gt4 is a very underrated car, strong engine and gearbox, well built and reliable. Cheap now too

It's down to personal preference . RS is the most focused model 100kg lighter with mech rear diff and short gear box . But saying GSR is boring is funny , I find GSR is pretty focused car already and RS might be over the top for my personal needs.
I think Normal STI shouldn't be compared to GSR , GSR being more focused out of the box , quick rack , oil cooler wider and lower chassis , better power band as they're twin scroll. Spec C is a fair comparison , if earlier models than RA maybe but having myself 2 classics in the past they're not really a par to E5/6 handling wise.

Classics are raw breed and single scroll turbo gives you that epic kick up the **** when on boost . It's fun but not faster overall. Evo tend to make it all much calmer , with no drama if keeping it tidy , but when you're on the limit it is amazingly fun , way less understeer , just command it were to go and adjust the rear end . It's the 1st car in a long time that i haven't modded much as it has got a perfect balance as it is. Classics were like a wild horse always trying to keep on the black stuff trying to fight the understeer to oversteer and visa versa... It definitely gives you lots of smiles and i'm in no way trying to knock it off. But at this moment i find Evo better suited.
