Default All Wrx classic's are imports

All Wrx classic's are imports correct?

As far as i'm aware all uk versions were call 2000 turbo and all imports are wrx or sti etc

I keep seeing adverts for Wrx impreza's then the seller tells me its not an import, so just checking i'm right

Also, there's a myth (in some places) that imports are more expensive to insure and a host of other things.
I've seen a few ads that state eg. 2005 WRX when that was the year it was imported. (Despite the fact they have, say, an M reg, someone possibly falls for it).

When was the first UK model - 1996/7?

I know it doesn't seem plausible, but the first UK cars are actually 1994. It wasn't until the facelift of 96 that they really took off in the UK.

Not true: UK Turbo 2000's were 208 and then 215 BHP.

Whereas early WRX'x were 240 BHP - so not the same.

Yes agreed its 100% diffrent car might share alot of parts, but differnent turbos and power, had both and the Import was alot tighter, harder ride, more power, no air bags to speak of.

classic wrx and sti are 100% imports, beyond that it's a crap shoot, parallel imports that are same spec as uk bar alarm, jdm version, euro version etc etc all known by common demoninator of wrx and sti.

Also some uk only special editions,

RB5
series macrae
22b (uk and jap)
terzo

prob some others as well, type r, type ra and 555's are all imports.

did i miss any? lol

If you check the id plates online on the decoder they all are wrxs.
Every turbo impreza ever made is a wrx. I know they are all different.

It also says "Subaru in the UK released 200 limited edition "Series McRae" WRXs in June 1995, prepared by Prodrive.". Its a uk model but still a wrx.

no its not, they were never sold as wrx in the uk, they were always UK turbo 2000. there is no classic uk WRX.

WRX is just a designation, which for classic (2000 and before) were jap spec only. Not sure whos edited the wiki page but its wrong

Learn something new every day !
I well remember Subaru being - shall we say 'interlinked' - with farming and agriculture in the 80's.
I lived in E. Anglia and my first sight of one was on sale at a Saab dealership of all places. Seems every farmer around had one (Subaru pickup that is).

I had a Cat and I remember reading somewhere at the time that although it said 208bhp that was because Japanese laws forbid anything to be more than that, but really it was 250. (I always thought it a bit ).
