Decat + Remap gains 2.5 STi?
Looking into this for later in the year when my warranty expires.
Are the Japspeed decat downpipes:-
A: Any good
B: Mate to standard exhaust system
Any other recommendations?
Supporting mods?
Based on past experience, would probably be looking to use Andy F as the mapper.
What sort of gains can be achieved safely on standard internals, once fitted and remapped?
Yeah, I know it's a standard 2.5 and will blow up etc. but WTF?

Might be best to fit a walbro in tank pump too.
Std exhaust will be 2.5" so as long as the downpipe has the same end you should be fine. I have a 3" downpipe with 2.5" reduced end.
Should get up to 350bhp easy enough. Keep the boost below 1.35bar on a std 2.5 lump to give it a fighting chance.

My old Hawk STi made 377bhp 412lb/ft with a full 3"inch decat exhaust system, FMIC, induction kit, ecutek remap!!
The 2.5 litre in my hawk did 61k miles when I sold it last month and running 377bhp for about 45k miles of it and all on the standard internals, so untouched internally!!
But If your going to worry at every little noise I would advise not to do the mods, but if you have it in your head that it will one day blow up and you will have it forged then go for it, but no point in doing it if you think the extra bhp/lb/ft is going to break your engine, no matter if you tell your mapper you want it at a safe power!!

I've got over my initial paranoia, which wasn't helped by the car being the most rattle-prone machine I'd ever driven. Once I got used to that, all was sweet.
The experiences of people whose cars are spot on is a great counterbalance to those who have had poor experiences though; and as I learn about the car I'm in a better place to make an informed judgement as time progresses. Hence the questions.

I'm relatively new to Subaru ownership after buying a 10 Hatch STi with PPP in May. So when I bought it, I signed up here all excited and read the ringland thread as my first thread. What a mistake that was.

Got more important things to worry about then if my headgasket/ringlands are going to break, Lucky enough ive been on the forum for 10 years so no who to take the car too and what to buy etc and more importantly who to trust to build the engine!!
If I was to buy a Audi/BMW and something went wrong with the engine or gearbox it would probably cost a lot more then to have a engine re-build on a Subaru.
Just enjoy your car thats the best advice I can give!!!

340/380 with full decat and remap. No need to change the fuel pump as the hawk is already updated. Ran mine for 3 years and never missed a beat and makes for a wicked road car. the only thing I would say is it became very noisy as it had an afterburner on it which I ended up changing for a quieter one and it was a bit smelly!!! Next time I wouldn't go the whole decat route and will be using a sports cat instead which will also be ok for MOT.

Mine made 353/395 EcuTeck race-rom sports down pipe that came with the PPP, Blitz Nur spec 3" center and back box and a Roger Clark induction kit ( purely for the sound)
I was not getting the car maped to get big numbers just a safe map to replace the PPP generic map that was done with just 10 miles on the clock from new. car has now done 42K

will already have the walbro but I swapped it for a nice new one just so that I knew it would last old one still worked fine too, mines made 350 with a 200cell 3" downpipe to a blitz nur spec on standard air intake with standard air filter, spooled well and had virtually no flat spots apart from the tailing at the end. As long as its mapped well aka Andy should be fine
