Mot day! I'm a happy chappy!
Well it was that time of year again and I dropped the Scooby off for its mot and you never really know 100% how these things will go. Anyway just had the call from the garage that my cars ready and it passed with no advisories.
Not bad for a 13 year old impreza hey! To say I'm pleased is an understatement. But in my defence I do maintain it very well with regular servicing etc
Good luck anyway to anyone who has there not coming up soon!

Oh I totally agree with that, you can also say that just buying a second hand car with an mot sometimes isn't a cast iron guantee to the condition of the vehicle, but as I had no advisories either that was great for me. But it's always a relief to get it through without paying for extra work. My other half had hers done the day, same garage and had a big bill for brakes etc so she wasn't too happy.

Not sure if this is good advice but maybe someone could clarify as to whether it is or not.
If it is then it could be a good way of getting through a emissions test.

Just had my 02 Sti in for its MOT last week and it failed on emissions at fast idle with a CO of 0.70 (limit is 0.30).
Mine has the ppp so has a sports cat which apparently has to be piping hot to be able to pass the test so took it for an "Italian tune-up" on the motorway the night before the retest ( 3rd gear 5500 rpm's for about 5 miles once warmed up properly) and then made sure it was super-hot for the test and it passed with a CO of 0.08!

If its a import then I don't think they can test the emissions (kinda). I had a legacy b4 rsk and took it to ATS where it failed, then for my retest I took it to a "friend". He told me that because it was a import it was not on the DVLA system so ATS would of had to put it through as a different model uk legacy. My "friend" then put it through as unknown where by the limits are not so tight and it passed.
My "friend" mr mot guy showed me the system that is used at EVERY mot station and approved/enforced by the DVLA and my car was not there. I was told that if the vehicle is not there then the procedure is to put it down as unknown which ATS didn't do.

The emissions were taken from a brand new Citroen c1 lol which kept failing as the cat wasnt warm enough but got there in the end.
The only advisory was a split ball joint rubber which i knew about and replaced a few days later...
