1st track Day - What can I expect?
#1
I'm thinking of doing Donnington 7th July.
What can I expect?
I have new tyres....is that a good thing?
I have a helemt.
Greenlight will cover me for £65 ~ 1000 excess.

New tyres + Dono = A Bad Thing
The big fat blocks of tread overheat very quickly,, the tyres go off and it goes all squirmy on you. However, you *may* be able to book/rent a set of wheels n tyres from Tyres Northampton for the day, cost will be alot less than the wear on a new set..sweet deal!
Insurance is good. Helmet is good. Have fun!
(You may also want to buy a spare set of front brake pads - just to make sure you can get home)

Try and get a few laps with someone who has done it before (pref not Stef, as he'll scare you witless ) and listen to what they are saying. It is totally different to road driving. If they have a professonal instructor at the session, get yourself booked in as you'll enjoy it a whole lot more. Ditto what Chuck says about the tyres - new ones won't last long!!
