Ok newbie Q do i need to top up expansion tank with coolant? or just the header tank.

Just make sure the header tank (nearest the turbo) is full to just below the neck of the tank. Cold of course.

Then check the level of the overflow tank, this is the tank to the right of the radiator. On cold it should be at min / an inch up from min.

ok thanks, does it matter if there isnt any water in the expansion tank?

There should be, on cold put coolant in there. Min mark or just above.
