Default Subaru BRZ offer

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/defa...?storyId=29887

Subaru's reasoning behind the price cut is to put clear space between the BRZ and the new WRX STI, the cars now separated by £5,000 rather than £2,500.

Or is it just not selling as well as the GT86??

Subaru are not allowed to sell as many as Toyota or the factory only gives Subaru 4 cars for every 10 that Toyota get or something to that effect. The Subaru name is not strong these days and its all about the badge.

But if you were buying a car that was, to all intents and purposes, the same car, different badge, who would YOU want backing the warranty? Toyota? Or IM/Subaru?

People are more familiar with Toyota, that's why I've seen only one BRZ and lots of GT86s.

There is a dirt cheap GT86 you can get with steelies and un painted bumper for about 15k.

If you're going to buy one you would be looking at how close the dealership is to you.Also;

Are Toyota & Subaru servicing each others cars?
Are servicing costs/parts the same?
Who provides the best aftercare service?

Just some thoughts.

JDM only unfortunately, which seems a bit daft really considering it would probably sell like hot cakes at that price.

Yeah, well on that one you'd run a mile from Subaru

Normally in a retail market scenario Toyota would hit back by reducing the GT86 to the same price as the BRZ.

Surely with them both working together Subaru mentioned they would be reducing the BRZ price because of the STI being released "which sounds like one of the best excuses I have heard lately"

If not will Toyota and Subaru work together again??

Maybe the relationship has gone sour already as I am sure Subaru are not making much off this partnership.

Thoughts

Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru's parent) is 16.1% owned by Toyota. They are the majority owner since 2008.

You're not the salesman who was mentioned on pistonheads recently are you?
A chap went into a Toyota dealership and after spending 20 minutes asking questions about the car decided he wanted a test drive and was politely told he couldn't have one.
