Question HAWK STI 2.5 ENGINE REBUILD HELP

Hello fellow Scooby owners,
The dreaded head gasket failiure has taken my Hawekeye down, so I`ve been unable to use her for 2 weeks now while I try to figure out what to do for the best.

Been calling around everywhere to get a feel for what to do and where to take her. DERBYSHIRE based

So I know now that I want to replace pistons
Replace crank bearings
Sort head gasket
Stronger studs
So to make strong enough for future BHP increase max 400 BHP

Was going to take her area 52 tomorrow 29/4/14
However I would like to hear what you guys think of this place nowadays.

They sound very knowlegdable and seem to have loads of time for clients, but remember seeing some bad posts so wondering if things have changed or not.

These are the only guys that talked about blue printing my bottom end too.

Call Andy at Richard Henry Motorsport 01274 732508 in Bradford.
Thier not that for you really but I can assure you it's well worth the journey. Best garage I've ever dealt with, mines currently in for a full rebuild.
Give them a call see what they've got to say

Joe

Hi, I think we may of had a convertion yesterday. Just reading this and picked up on the 'blueprinting'. This is an interesting comment, its a fairly old term to be honest. Old engines (1970's) where made to such poor tolerences that blue printing was a way of building the engine properly. Any decent engine builder will use this way of building an engine, you just don't hear it that much nowadays.

Shame to hear you've sold the hawk! It was a very good spec for fast road.
What you getting next?

When I looked into this 2 years ago I asked about Area52 and was told not to use them for a few reasons. I used Glenn at Carnetix in Melton and car has been fine since but to be honest after using Area52 for dyno work and speaking to them I would give them a chance if I needed the work doing again.

I called Scoobyclinic when i wanted the work doing and their attitude was terrible......

Speak to AtoB Subaru specialists in kelbrook. Excellent service, hire car F.O.C. While car is there. Very understated place, as they don't advertise.

Well I dropped the poorly Hawk into Area52 yesterday evening for the engine overall with Mahla pistons, upgrad bottom end bearing along with the blueprinting too, should be interesting and I intend to keep popping in to see how its going and to see my new parts in person.

Oh my poorly wallet but I cant wait to get her back on the road. hugh smiles

Well it was a real head pain thinking where to go with the build, but after 2 weeks of my poorly Hawk being sat on the drive I decided to replace the piston for quite Mahla type, rebuild and blueprint bottom end with race bearing, hopefully the blueprinting will make a fast engine from standard then with the upgraded studs and pistons, gasket etc she`ll be happy at a fraction over 400 BHP if I ever wanted, prop just 360/70 thought as thats going to be a quick road car...

Im sure you will all agree on that one..

bring on the summer events yippee...

If your still on a 43 & blues after run -in period
350-370 is sensible but your OEM clutch won't think so
& then comes the hunt for more , & the wallet twitches
