Default How to remove boot lock?

On a wide track so the square lock type. Is it just the 4 bolts and it will come backwards? What about the outer chrome cover?

The lock barrels are generally held in with a U-shaped spring clip that locates in a groove on the lock body. If you get to look behind it, you will probably see it, and it will have one edge turned at 90 deg to the boot, Put the tip of a screwdriver against this and knock it away from the lock.

This is where I get stuck. Can't see a clip that will release it. Removing the screw and little bracket did nothing.

Oh and it's the whole barrel and mount I'm trying to remove as I have another boot kid to fit.

You sure that when you remove that screw, the U-shaped bracket I mentioned isn't under it? I can't see from that.

I've looked down and felt with a screwdriver as best as I can and when you pull the screw the little metal backet comes away but thats it, can't really see what that bracket does or stops though.

Nip it to a local bodyshop, ask nicely and take a 6-pack of beer?

Cracked it. It's a massive piece of black that just slides out. Well with a screw driver. Couldn't see any little clip or anything though. All done. Thanks for the help guys

That's what I was trying to explain...it's U-shaped, to accomodate the lock barrel.

I was looking for something small when you said put a screw driver against it though! Was just having a bit of a stress which is what I'm blaming it on. Thanks for the help alcazar though
