Default litchfield type 25

Hi all,

I'm looking for another Subaru, I had a version 5 type r a couple of years ago so looking at blob eye sti's, preferably a jdm one maybe even a spec c. Found a Litchfield type 25 for sale, Can anyone shed some light on these, are they as good as the 2.0 jdm engines etc?

Any information would be appreciated

Thanks Rab

Is that the one in Herefordshire ?

The very early MK1 T25's weren't a fully forged like the Later mk1's. They ran approx 360/380

Although the few very early MK 1's were later rebuilt and forged pistons etc

First MK 2's were mostly Hawks possibly a or 2 blob MY05 had the full cosworth forged lump they ran 415bhp/450lbs approx

IMHO

Iirc

Tony

They're lovely cars but require a fair bit of maintenance.

The Hawkeye cars are very quick, the turbo spools very quickly and they have a lot of torque.

No I don't although seen it twice. I was in my T25 behind him, so two rare T25's in small city same road.

I was going to see it a month ago a friend was going to buy it. But owner pulled car as thought Turbo had gone.
By the advertisement it seems the common miltek down pipe leaking and exhaust gaskets blown job.

I have to agree with the new galaxy they do need good maintenance and more rather than just what's required. My T20 was served approx every 1,500 miles a bitt ott but I did do track time. Iirc it's every 6months for a JDM.

I've got a single scroll Cosworth engine that only sees low mileage use on the road and is serviced six monthly.

In addition I change the oil every three months on the basis that the car is driven mainly at weekends.

Not sure a type 25 would need any more than that.

Yea the advert says it's had a new twinscroll turbo.

What makes the 2.5 so different for maintenance compared to the 2.0? It's just going to be a weekend car so won't be doing that much miles. How do you find your type 25 performance wise?

Cheers rab

I thought I am **** changing mine every 6 months or 3k miles (whichever comes first) but 3 months is a bit OTT.

Do you pre-fill the oil filter and crank the engine without spark to build up the pressure before firing it up?

Apparently the above is important.

I have created my own OCD protocols and guidelines for every system I carry out at work, so following a few when it comes to my car is really not an OTT thing for me

A turbo is £1.5K ish

It's similar to my old Hawk T20 2.0lr but more torque. I'd gone for a hawk JDM but at £14k compared to £8k for the T25

In Hindsight I should have gone for a low mileage hawk UK 2.5 at low price and spend £5k and forge it. May represent better value

The later Mk2 is awesome.
