Not completely sold on it yet. Like it from some angles, not from others. Rear spoiler looks nice from front, terrible at rear.

Still the love child of an EVO 10 and every French/Jap/Euro box on the market.

designed by the Blunket school of design, powered by an unproven engine and warrantied by....well, the same people as have tried to duck so many warranties in the past.

Wouldn't buy one if I was in the market...and I'm not.

Type 25 suspension would cure a couple of those ills.

I am puzzled as to why we are not seeing the 2.0 WRX that the US is getting.

Until these things have been bombing around for 3 years with no issues will I trust the engine in them.

Compared with a A45 AMG its a real looker as they are totally ill proportioned. The sti could do with the AMGs co2 emissions and power though. No doubt the Sti will be more fun to drive and is miles cheaper. The EJ25 is the elephant in the room though, why they didn't put an uprated FA in it??.

Indeed, and this will be the case for a lot of previously loyal customers (myself included)
I have left the marque for good though - good riddance I say.

A serious question - if you have been so badly let down by the Marque and feel that way, why bother participating in a forum thats all about owning them?

I'm not trying to be funny, just curious. I own several and my personal buying and owning experiences over the past 12 years have been extremely positive but as with all products in all markets not everything goes well!, but if I no longer had one not sure i'd be bothered to participate.

On the suspension note. Fitting coilovers on the 3rd generation car is only a positive IMHO the handling improves and so does ride quality. I fitted ASTs to the 2011 and really regret the day I took them off to fit Subaru lowering spring. I lost grip and comfort

Same as a lot the others on here, really like the car but has subaru made any reference to whether they have addressed their ring land issue or have they just bolted the same engine in again? Admittedly they can't really say they've addressed an issue they have denied having I suppose?

I've not personally been badly let down per se, however two close friends have and were treated very badly (IMO) by Subaru UK.
One in fact was accused of driving the car to destruction - which is total nonsense(I know you'll have to accept my word on that) - needless to say he was faced with a personal bill of several thousand to have his engine repaired.

That, together with many of the posts on here annoyed me.
I'd been a very loyal customer of 15 years prior to that with 5 brand new cars from them during that time.

Until Subaru come clean with the ringland failures, then the STI is always going to have a big black mark associated with it.

I think you will find there are a number of previous owners, who if the truth be known have some Subaru in there blood. I can't speak for others but I loved my time in my various Subaru's and met a lot of great people (now friends) along the way.

Subaru U.K have not (in many peoples opinions) stood by there customers following inherent issues with the 2.5 engine. Post 2008 they had many opportunities to come clean and do the honourable thing. As a Business they chose to swerve and cover there position. I remember saying in 2009 that it would end in tears and I don't get any pleasure in sitting back now and seeing how things are.

In answer to your point. Those of us that hang around, do so because we were part of the Subaru Community and over all they bring back good memories. I also feel that whilst it would be nice if the forum was all positive, it is really important that fellow owners and more importantly the newbies get a balanced view. The horror stories, poor back up and engine issues are all part of how Subaru is now perceived (by some).

Subaru appear to have missed another opportunity to put the 2.5 issues to bed. They haven't taken it and that's simply why they will continue to pay the price.
