Default Advice needed for a 'scooby newbie'.

Hi all...I've just purchased my first Subaru...a 2010 Legacy Boxer Diesel. On entering the car, I only have about 10 seconds to start up before the immobilizer kicks in...meaning I have to unlock, then start up again. Is this normal?

Yes this is standard. Usually you can still start it up after 10 seconds by just holding the alarm button and turning the ignition.
