Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000
hi everyone i'm going to look at a Subaru Impreza 1999 Turbo 2000 tomorrow and hopefully if it all goes well i'm going to buy it, im looking to make it run between 300 and 350bhp but i have been told when upgrading the turbo you need to put bigger injectors in the engine but i have also been told that the late turbo 2000s 1999 onwards already have the 440cc injectors i will need to make the car run at that bhp so is this statement true or not people?
thank you

How much power you get depends on your wallet I guess! For the higher end of the 350bhp you would certainly need a bigger turbo, injectors would maybe be ok if they are 440's, you'd need to decat as well. Intercooler upgrade is likely to be needed along with a remap.
The standard clutch won't hold out at 350bhp either. The gearbox may or may not take it either depending on how well it was treated over the past 14 years.
It'll be easy enough to spot the 440's if they are fitted, they're yellow.

ok mate thanks for that and i spoke to the owner of the Subaru Impreza turbo 2000 and he says it already has a TD05 Turbo and an ECU remap, but i was looking to put a stage 1 clutch and lightened flywheel, Front Mount Intercooler and also going to change the whole exhaust system with a 3" bore all the way throught, walbro 255 fuel pump i mean im going to spend quite a lot of money on this turbo becuase i've never owned a turbo car before because of my insurance and im just 22 lol but i will be keeping the car for quite a long time lol and also will i have to put a decat on the exhaust system or will a sport cat be ok for 350bhp coz where i live even when i had a non turbo subaru the police pulled me up all the time lol

The TD05 will see you up to about 320/330 I reckon. You might need to go with a bigger VF turbo to get 350. A sport cat would probably do the job just fine.
Out of interest, how much is the insurance??

tbh mate i think 320bhp will be more than enough power lol and my insurance on this car im going to look at is £1200 third party fire and theft but fully comp is over £2500 which is quite worrying not being fully comp but since i've had a non turbo subaru this past year which was great but everywhere i went i see Subaru Turbos WRX STI's everywhere which made me want one sooo much more lol so i did my research and found out that the turbo 2000s are cheapest on insurance but only come to about 220 bhp standard so i fort why not buy one and spend a bit getting more power in the engine
this is the website for the car im going to look at today its got quite high mileage but its got a full service history and had a recent cambelt done and look pretty clean all round the car so hopefully its a good one and ill buy it mate

I had a uk2000 with the exact mods your planning, plus ported headers and id estimate it ran just over 300bhp at 1.45bar. That is about the right limits for the engine, box and turbo of that age. You could whack a vf35 on and aim for 340bhp but your clutch and box wont thank you. To be honest, at 300bhp it was a nice spooly set-up, with good suspension and brakes it is more than enough for your first turbo experience!
Best of luck

yeah mate i was thinking a vf34 turbo but i drove it today and im sure its got a standard turbo which i think is a TL04 or something and its running 241 bhp i booted it and was very surprised how fast it was so im thinking maybe just a TD05 turbo and a few other part to make 300 bhp will be more than enough lol and what so you mean by ported headers mate
