my v6 sti project..
well I thought I would start a thred about my project, the plans are ever changing as the project continues and what started out as a nice cheapish daily is now transforming into a track / fast road car!
car is being built by Nick @ car & custom garage in Bristol (www.carandcustomgarage.co.uk) with lots of custom work being done.
basically im trying to build a car using the best affordable and sourceable parts from the impreza range over the years, plus aftermarket parts of course!
right so the car...
I bought it as at the time I had sold my car and was on the look for a nice cheapish gc8 and this came up
v6 gc8 wich had rays wheels on and a power flow exhaust system, but the engine was freshly re-built using rcm parts, forged pistons, zero sports stat, etc etc so wil little miles on the engine I was happy to buy the car, and thought it would be a good basis for a few mods....
wasn't long after having it the modifications started..
interior was completely changed to full flocked set up, cobra suzuka gt seats, harnesses and a harness bar, plus set of prosports, wide band, knock link, new stereo, speakers, 18" inovit alloys, genuine 22b bonnet vents, tein flex coilovers with edfc, front lip splitter, zunsport grilles ra roof vent etc
after that stage I wanted to up grade the underside of the car to get better handling,
so fitted was a full newage sti rear end, sub frames, arms, hubs etc with a plated r180 4.44 rear diff, and a full set of brembo brakes also added.
plus I changed the exhaust to a haywood and scott down pipe, hks up pipe, and full haywood and scott system.
also all the arms etc I had powder coated, and completely polybushed with uprated zero sports arb
with the rear end all night and happy we altered the camber to a couple of degrees negative on the rear and it handled amazing! what a difference a diff makes!!
also changed the gearbox to a type r 4.444 box with dccd so she was nice and tail happy!!
this is then how she sat!
after driving around like this for a bit, there were a couple of issues with the dreaded rear arches. so off she went to the body shop to have them sorted
after that was all done, I drove her about for a bit and as usual got bored, so sat down and decided I would build a nicer engine bay, sort some rust issues around the screen, etc so back in the garage she went...
engine was taken out...
whilst engine was out I thought bollox to it, and decided to go the whole hog, and so now having a full wrc multi weld in cage put in, engine has been stripped and currently being done up with..
new rcm headers, rcm baffled sump kit, fresh vf34 turbo, toyo sports new fmic core inverted, custom stainless cooler pipes, setrab oil cooler, thermal spacers, polished inlet, new samcos, new rcm pullys, excedy stage one pink box, alcatek with l.c and a.l, 12mm oil pump, lateral rcm fuel pump, spec c anti serge swirl pot with -6 fittings, braided lines, etc etc etc etc lots being done, but as she stands now shes having the cage put in and being sprayed inside and out with new p2000 carbon spoiler being put on, morettes, 22b narrow bumper,
heres some random pix of different things,
also the front end is now changed to newage sti set up, and currently being powder coated, black and green, polybushed also cusco arb and sti spec c quick rack to go in!
also declutting the engine bay, new battery (odessey pc680 & washer bottle) being relocted inside car so took battery tray off.
also master cylinder and brake lines being custom made using type r non abs set up with ferodo ds2500 pads right round
also new bumper bar to mount cooler, as with most they rot away
interior all stripped out ready for new weld in cage to be fitted
new wheels revolution 18s with kumho inter cut soft tyres
carbon firewall set up
and this is how she is sitting at the moment awaiting cage,
so that's if for now, theres loads to do as you can see, but will get there eventualy lol
I will update as things are fitted / made, and go from there!
she will not be to everyones taste im sure so any constructive criticism welcomed
im looking forward to getting it going and doing some hill climbs, sprints etc

Cheers guys its getting there slowly
All frames etc with bolt on direct but you need the full kit to swap
Battery tray you have to drill the spot welds and carefully cut it out, takes a good few hours!
Will update shortly wen I get some more pics

Well went to see the progress on the car today and so far so good, cage is about 50% completed and will be all sprayed up this time next week then she will have the full outside sprayed and a couple of rusty bubbles around the screen treated and looking as new again!
Few pics that I took today....
Also had my newage frame and alloy arms plus other bits back from powder coating and Nickle plating
Also collected my new front bumper which I've dropped off to be repaired and painted
More to come ......

Ye I can appreciate that but unfortunately the spray work and powder coat were done at the same time at different company's
But once the inside has the new seats, firewall etc in should be less 'in your face' if that makes sense
