My Impreza STI Blob Project
Howdy,
Registered on here recently and thought I would post up my on going project. My Scoob is my toy and I only use it in the summer for going to club meets at Knockhill etc. So its an ongoing modifying project that started this year and doesnt seem to have an end
My original plan was to fit a WRC kit until I discovered the cheap kits where cheap for a reason. To get a good kit would cost serious money. So that idea was ditched pretty quickly.
Some of my Plans
1. Remove and sell front bumper - COMPLETE
2. Remove and sell rear spoiler - COMPLETE
3. Remove, refurbish, paint gloss black and add a red pinstripe to all 4 alloys from TWS, Glasgow - COMPLETE
4. Send calipers to Ben and Ian at Godspeed Brakes for a complete refurb. Painting black with red Brembo logo . Also renewing all bolts, pins, bleed nipples, bleed nipple covers, seals and plates - COMPLETE
5. Renew rear discs and pads with Brembo drilled discs and pads - COMPLETE
6. Purchase new carbon centre caps for all4 alloys - COMPLETE
7. New black wheel studs - COMPLETE
8. De-tango and paint black both headlights - COMPLETE
9. New Carbon rear spoiler - COMPLETE
10. Remap with Launch Control from Alistair at Trackhound -
11. 20mm spacers added to all four wheels - COMPLETE
12. New floor mats - COMPLETE
13. K&N Panel Filter - COMPLETE
14. Walbro Fuel Pump - COMPLETE
15. Smoked side repeaters - COMPLETE
16. Complete service. New oils etc. - COMPLETE
17. New WRC Front Bumper fitted - COMPLETE
18. New tyres fitted - COMPLETE
19. New Tein Springs fitted all round and shocks refurbed- COMPLETE
20. Engine clean - COMPLETE
21. New WRC style carbon bonnet - COMPLETE
Compaines I have used
http://www.scoobyparts.com - Great source of parts at good prices. And always very helpfull. Highly recommended
http://www.importcarparts.co.uk - Also really good and very quick delivery
http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk - Highly recommended for brake refurbs. The made an awesome job of my calipers as you will see.
Carbon Bonnet - John at www.demonmotorsport.com - great quality bonnet and worth spending that bit extra. Also a great fit and an awesome looking bonnet.
Ebay - Not a fan of cheap ebay buys but good for the odd things that you cannot get anywere else. Like the carbon spoiler I bought.
TWS Glasgow www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk - Not bad I wouldnt recommend using them as I had hassle with the quality of my wheels. Got it sorted in the end but not worth the hassle

REMOVAL OF PARTS FOR SELLING AND REFURBING
(3inch Cobra straight pipe was just too damn loud and had to go. A couple of warnings from the police helped make that decision)
A video of the exhaust before it was removed. Sounds good at the flyby at 4mins

NEW CARBON SPOILER PURCHASED
Found it difficult to get a carbon spoiler in the standard impreza shape. After a bit of searching this came up on ebay. A well made piece of carbon.

ALLOY REFURB
Before (Alloys needed a good refurb. All four had scuffs and dings. Also the Prodrive cap needed renewed. Couldnt get Prodrive caps in black so purchased carbon OZ caps)
After (sent them to TWS in Glasgow. Had a bit of hassle and they had to get back to get repainted but the final finish was awesome. Also purchased new caps and studs

BRAKES
Before (The calipers also needed a good refurb ad paint. I also had to buy discs and pads as the last set were done. So bought new drilled Brembo discs and pads all round. Also purchased new brake lines from Scooby Parts.
I had my calipers refurbed at Godspeed brakes. So thanks to Ben for all your help and making an awesome job of my brakes. Cheers

SUSPENSION
Decided to fit Tein lowering springs and replace the Prodrive springs. As the Prodrive spring lowered the car anyway I only got a drop of about 5-6mm but still a drop. Also decided the struts needed a refurb.
Before
After. Renewed all the bolts.

New Carbon bonnet arrived yesterday, so fitted it today with some help.
Fit is really good just a couple of things that slowed us down. I had to take the bumper off to adjust the bonnet catch. Scoop took a bit of work to get all bolts in but we got there and it fits very well. The only thing I need to do is make a fitment for the intercooler water spray.
The finish of the bonnet is also very, very good. I recommend getting one if you are looking at them. John at www.demonmotorsport.co.uk

Cheers for the comments.
Im not so keen on the wheels now. Would rather all black or anthracite.
Yeah its an HTAutos bumper. I wasnt sure at first buts its growing on me. It does need a splitter but they dont make one and I aint doing a home made job. I removed the badge centre badge holder on the bumper as it was way too big.
