Default 10 seconds on a budget project Scubbay N.I

Having competed for quite a few years now including twice at SSO we thought it was time to share our latest engine build. The "Scubbay" has been in storage for the past couple of years due to both ill health and budget restrictions but we are growing close to the engine build being completed.
Previous spec for the SSO have been :
2005 2.5 conversion @ 376/400 finishing 10th overall with a 12.56 (how things have progressed)
2007 2.1 scdb with a GT30/40R running approx 470bhp achieving an 11.51 qtr with an 1.61 60ft qualifying well outside the top ten although it was driven there and home again to Ireland! mapped on this occasion by AndyF
The same year we made it into the semi-finals at Straightliners Enniskillen despite running with a clipped valve due to an over-rev on a missed gearchange. On the way home the clipped valve made its way through the induction destroying the piston, head , bore and turbo! So it has been on axle stands from then to now.
The spec this time is to follow but bear in mind this is no race car, full interior, standard STI suspension, fully loaded with sound system, driven to and from all events and used daily.

Just an update to include the parts we have accumulated to begin the transformation:
The engine spec is to be a 2.0 with billet crank, steel rods, forged pistons, 14mm headstuds, Cosworth stopper headgaskets, version 5 sti heads heavily cnc ported with double valve springs kelford cams and shimless buckets. RCM vernier cam wheels, STI Kevlar timing belt with Cosworth guide, Jun high capacity oil pump. new std water pump, crankshaft damper pulley. Clutch will be the Carbonetic triple plate carbon kit matched to the WR1 6speed gearbox. Back to the engine bay and I'm sticking to my rotated version8 manifold with Perrin fuel rails, quite large top feed injectors and a Billet throttle body. Boost will be generated by T04Z rotated turbo previously used by John Curistan on his 10 second Impreza with external wastegate and screamer pipe and further tunes by NurspecR. Sparks are under debate and will either be uprated coilpacks or a cdi unit. Management will remain as Autronics as it does what I need mapped by AndyF. Fuel system remains as before with intank 044 with bespoke swirl pot and 2nd 044 under bonnet. Some engine mount mods to include a Beatrush (bling bling) pitching rod and a very nice side engine damper kit which Ive never seen on another Impreza. Engine cooling is a Lateral performance rad intercooler kit as before with the NOS cooling bar fitted. Engine breathing will remain with the WRC system we've used previously. Hyperflow sump with Cosworth baffle.
Suspension will remain as standard and we will be retaining the Brembo brakes albeit upgraded Carbone Lorainne will be used. First ever wheel change since 2003 with the 5zigen pro racers and the usual 888's. The only body mod planned is a spoilerless bootlid for drag events. The interior will be retained in full road trim including the Sunday papers which will be updated weekly. The infamous Ari Vatinen 555 helmet will also be in attendance.

the offending piston:

The new rims (well second hand)

cossie headgaskets

new throttlebody

coils

bling

Updates as and when they happen.

No...getting it bloody all together as you and I have experienced is a hurdle on its own!

I have to say this. Met this boy only once before until recently and I have to say Bravo. Against everything thrown against him he has come out on top. 10 second quarter mile shouldn't be a problem i.m.o. Very envious spec list. If money were no object who knows!
As your namesake I hope you beat the big boys.....

Nice throttle body , where did you get it from and what are the benefits over the factory body?

4mm larger and set up for a bypass valve. Same as Gobstopper.
Having a hard time getting valve clearances set just now. I seem to have no clearance at all even with the thinnest buckets. Booked AndyF for 3 weeks time so really need the finger out!
I left the heads back to the machine shop today to try and remedy/grind some gaps from somewhere. I can only think to take a little off the valve stem or keep skimming the buckets??

Despite not updating for some time progress has been made. Valve clearance issues have been sorted and Ive just finished mocking up all the odds and ends, manufacturing brackets etc to make a nice engine bay when finished. If I had the stainless steel bolt kit Im pretty much finished bar the anti-lag solenoid from RCM. Funds seriously stretched so gonna hang back until the new year to finally install and run in.
Happy to take both positive and negitave feedback as long as its constructive.

Runs a new-age pump with remote reservoir. Headers are done with ceramic very high temperature coating.

I must mention SMD motorsport a cousin of my own but a big influence from day 1. This is as much his progress as mine. A combination of his ideas and mine over the past 3 years.

Daft question, but how did you solve the valve clearance issue?

Only reason I ask is that I've just lost an engine because I had the tops of the buckets skimmed. I hope you haven't done the same. If you have i seriously suggest you re think that before running it anymore. Sorry to scaremonger but I'd hate you to go through the disappointment i just have.
