Not sure what you mean about the zen car but if you are refering to time attack i dont think the focus is allow to compete.

Just sheer build quality to my eyes.

This level of bespoke engineering looks very professional to me in the focus, and the Zen/RCMS Impreza's are looking great too, but that Focus comes over as a different level of build complexity to me.

If you have the jigs, it's a relatively easy build. All the difficult parts are available off the shelf as ford WRC items. I would say it's more difficult to build a car by cutting about an OE shell and installing a predefined cage.

It doesn't worry me, and I've known about it, and the similar previous car for a long time.

There`s something like that over here but completely home built!

Have alook through the pics on this link: http://www.wbphotographics.com/Ozzy'...bum/index.html

Everything is Nissan GTR, running gear and engine etc. The chassis is a home built space frame, The only standard bit's of Focus is the windsreen, wipers, RS grill and a few bits of trim. The shell is completely made of fiberglass and home built too. So it's a GTR in camouflage

These cars are all new to me Paul, and the work and effort dedicated to them is really something else.

Where do people find the time if it is all DIY?

my first proper look at a "space frame" car was not long before christmas at the audi TT 20v turbo in the BRDA Rallycross championship in the super modified classat croft circuit.

we were guest of "mb motorsport" as a mate had just started working for them and got us free tickets so we all went for a look.

looking at the car i was not really sure what to expect from the outside, i asked the bloke who built it how much it cost to build and stuff and was stunned when the price was so low, thinking in my head that to buy a decent audi tt as a donor car must cost around 8grand i asked him he could build this thing so cheap, even with him doing all the work himself i reasons that a tt would still cost a decent lump of cash as a donor car, he laughed and told me that the only original audi tt part was the front grill

after having a more in depth look i was stunned, everything was fibreglass and the headlights were actually photos taken of an audi headlight, then printed out and stuck on the front of the car with glossy paper

it really was just a roll cage chassis with a fibreglass shell of an audi dropped over the top, my head was baffled when he told me he could turn it into any other kind of car just y changing where the wheels were and dropping a different shell over the top, just like a RC car

amazing things to look at, he had a massive crash later on in the day and the car smashed into massive different parts, thinking the car was a complete write off, it was all up and running again within 30 mins as they just taped all the fibreglass back together and cut/welded a few metal bars that hold the bodyshell in place
