Default FMIC piping fitment...

Hello@all DIY chiefs..

i have one problem.. i've got a FMIC with piping kit and i don't have another intake..that it fits without problems.. i heard an intake kit (apexi, blitz...) will damage my engine because the maf sensor measures some false things because of the greater pipe diameter!

i wanna mount my FMIC but wanna hold my original intake is that possible? can i cut the original air filter box, that i can get through with my FMIC pipes?
or is it better i buy a intake kit (APS, K&N, Blitz, apexi)!?

Hope you can help me!

Greetings
STeve

Steve:
I very much doubt that you can keep the original airbox/panel filter with the FMIC. I tried hard to find a way to do this to keep the intake in cold air with a FMIC.

I went for a Piper Cone filter which keeps the MAF in the stock location.

Maybe this pic helps:

Cool

Hi Steve

I have an APS Kit on my MY00 along with an FMIC and I also have TÜV paperwork for it if you are interested.

Only problem is if you fit the APS you will need the get it remapped due to the MAF.

even if you didn't need to get it remapped to increase the MAF range you will benefit form getting your FMIC etc remapped, it made a big differnece to mine.

If you are interested then I am working on Getting Bob Rawle out to Germany to do a number of ecutek remaps.

You could also go for the K&N 57i kit which fits in the engine bay but these are Verboten in Germany and also TÜV certification has been revoked for it. But this kit does not need remapping.

Also if you need any info or help then let me know.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Graham where did you get the hose clamps from that you have on your FMIC pipes?

Cheers

They came with the FMIC 'kit' which came from Harvey (it is one of his Hybrid units)
I believe you can buy them and even better if stainless.

hi mate,

i've got a MY98 ecutek isn't possible but I'm looking for a Apexi PowerFC!
Then the map and the MAF settings will get right I think..

I think i know whats the problem: the MAF sensor measures the air.. and the ECU thinks this air will be at the cylinder in a few milliseconds.. but it takes longer through the FMIC pipings and the A/F will not be the best.. maybe another reason why the reactiontime of the engine is not as good as a TMIC solution i think it would be really better after remapping..

@wurzel would be really great from you if you can send me the TÜV papers.. actually I don't know if i need to inscribe it..
you can PM me in german are you on the german impreza forums?
