Default V4 sti

This is my 1st Impreza, ive owned it over a year now, got it from a member on here.

This is it when I got it, not much changed really.

Changed the wheels

Then I had a leak from the rad so I replacement was due

After fixing a few little bits that's how it stayed up till the engine went pop :/

Now it's undergoing abut if a refresh.
Brought a newage sti block from East Kent scooby spares (top bloke), the plan was to put my heads on it with new gaskets, head bolts and can belt etc then sell it but I got carried away now I'm keeping it.

Then came a set of rods at a good price so I thought it would be rude not to

On stripping of the engine I cleaned up the Pistons to sell and found they were forged already 😎

The heads and blocks are away to be skimmed and vapour blasted, so I got on with the other bits.
Painted the inlet, powder coated the intercooler pipes and other brackets, heat wrapped the manifold and down pipe.

Got all the gaskets and bolts ready

Had a lick of paint

Subscribed! Looks great, what heat wrap did you use? Also what paint for the inlet? I really want to get an OEM finish to mine, but don't want it to flake off

I'm still pretty sure my headers are unequal, maybe someone can confirm.

The heat wrap is dei titanium about 100meters in the end and the paint is VHT high temp wrinkle. Hopefully it'll stay on.

Cheers cutmastert

Also got nismo 740cc injectors and aftermarket rails with braided pipes.

On removing the engine I found that the vf28 compressor wheel had bits missing apparently common.
Also found the block was an open deck, pretty sure it should have been a scd so someone's swapped them at some point, it's a semi closed going back in 😉

Got a set of P1 inverted dampers to go on.

Today I sorted the hole in the inner wing for the intercooler pipe that someone has hacked and bent bits out of the way,

Timmy- I never thought It sounds like the other Impreza's. Do you not want the panel for your Impreza?

CutmasterT- I'm not sure of his name but he's a big bloke, wouldn't **** him off lol.
There's a sc36 for sale at the mo but I was after 400bhp ish which that won't reach, Martin at engine tuner is devloping a t36 hybrid which sounds great but I don't really want to spend another £1300 😥

Hahaha yer that's Rich 😊 proper sound bloke.

If you're after 400 then the twin scroll sc42 would be a great option.
With that you need equal length headers, but the sound is awesome

I'll be going back to rich to get Duncan graham to map it when it's done.

Are you selling a sc42 twin scroll by any chance?

Hi mate sorry not got one for sale.

I've only recently got mine fitted, but needed a six speed before mapping it to its full potential.

Rich breaks a lot cars so maybe speak with him and see if he can get hold of one or something similar. I think he had an SC46 (not sure if he still does) but I believe they're more suited to the 2.5, and would be a tad laggy on the 2ltr.

Keep looking in the for sale section on here too, I'm sure one will pop up sooner or later

Hence I thought they must be the equal length headers. Hmmmnn, I wonder what it is then that makes it sound different?

That hole for the pipe work wasn't me by the way, looks good now though

Panel? Sorry not with you.

Timmy2take- the cooling panel, do you not want it for your impreza?

CutmasterT- I'll get in touch with him about a turbo, there's not rush yet as the blocks/heads will be a few weeks yet.

Got a set of enkei's on the way 😎, so the compomotives needs to go.

The standard shocks will be coming off tomorrow and giving the arches a clean then the p1 shocks can go on. I'll get some pics.

Got the shocks fitted, also put the grease nipples in the rears.
Removed the a/c matrix to tidy the engine bay.
Also cleaned the arches while the shocks were out.

This is how it stands at the mo, till the wheels arrives.

Fitted the new exhaust but I'm not too sure about it, it's rather large and angled.

The wheels are here.... Well, 3 of them have arrived 😡
The 4th should be here tomorrow.

It's also the 1st time sitting on the p1 suspension, the rear looks good, will have to see once it's settled.

Got the bumper back from the paint shop, couldn't get the splitter to fit how I wanted it too, but I'll play about with it.

Open deck block with forged pistons is standard on a V4 STI

Semi closed deck blocks didn't start until the newage STI and closed decks were only found on early cars up to about 95 and then in the V2 STI RA. After that all had open deck blocks.

Great project by the way

I'll see how the brakes perform with the new amount of power as I may end up changing the whole lot.
