STi4 Type R - One Careful Lady Owner
The day has come for us to sell "Dooby" to someone who can give him the time, love, attention and respect that he soooo much deserves.

New tyres fitted now just in case you noticed the fronts
For those of you who may know the car, you probably already know the story but for those who don't, please feel free to carry on reading.
Dooby was originally bought for my wife as a fast road car. The previous owner, Malcolm Pinder had brought the car for hillclimb racing and was very successful, winning many races and series in the North.
A very good friend of ours, Dave Perry from DP Motorsport recommended the car to us so we asked him to approach the owner, Malcolm to see if he was interested in selling.
Lucky for us, he did and we agreed a fair price 4.5 years ago.
We decided to make a few changes to Dooby and the photo you see above is far from his original state.
The first thing we changed were the wheels and had a complete engine rebuild done.

An old photo of Dooby's engine bay after having the engine rebuild
Over the years, our intentions were to race Dooby and entered into TOTB2 in which we were 5th fastest Subaru.
We felt we could get more out of the car so decided to take things further by adding Nitrous, a new ECU system, bigger exhaust, strengthened gearbox, larger clutch, bigger injectors and so on.
Whilst we were doing this, we thought it would be a good idea to lighten the car as well so added a carbon bonnet and wing mirrors, along with Morette front lights and clear rear light clusters and so on.
Not including buying Dooby, we reckon we have spent way over 20k over the years which includes all labour and parts fitted.
Having all of this done, we had the car mapped by a nice chap called Pat (22b), who after many painstaking hours learning how to map the Haltech system was able to setup the car to run 1.6 bar. The thing that suprised Pat the most was the amount of advanced timing the car was able to produce without detonating. We calculated this to be approximately 400bhp but please do not take this as prooven. We felt the car could be pushed even further but after many nailbiting road tests, we decided to call it a day.
The following day, another good friend of ours, Russ from Nitrous Solutions setup the N20 for us, running a 80bhp jet. We then went out for a road test, putting the det cans on running 1.6 bar with Nitrous. WOW. The car was already quick but adding the N20 was unbelievable. I had been in some very fast road cars before but nothing that compared to this.
We both decided that the Nitrous option should be best left for racing purposes or for the "Pose Factor" by using the fogger kit which was released via a single jet via the carbon bonnet as the gearbox, although uprated would not last long. In view of this, we have never since driven the car using the N20.
Since then, we have made a lot of changes in our lifestyle and Dooby has been made to suffer by being put away for many months.
We kept on saying to ourselves that we would make the effort to get Dooby back to his former glory but unfortunately time, effort and interest has been lost and now feel the time has come to find Dooby a new home.
Dooby is by no means in perfect condition and needs some much deserved TLC. A list of obvious things are listed below -
1 - The ECU needs to be remapped to sort out the cold start and higher boost. (We have only been running the car at 1bar for a long time which has been more than enough).
2 - The bodywork needs attention. Would reckon anything upto £400 having previously having a quote of £300 a few months ago.
3 - The interior needs a good tidy as there are a few trim fastners missing.
4 - New plugs. The current ones are working fine but would recommend changing as the car has not been used much in the last 2 years.
5 - Silence the exhaust. The baffles were removed and the car is so friggin loud.
6 - Soften the suspension as although the car handles very very well, he is a very hard ride and some would say teeth chattering.
7 - One of the front seats has a small hole so minor stiching would be required.
Dooby reads 67000km on the speedo but most of them were clocked in Kilometres before being imported into the UK. I would guess the accurate mileage is around 40,000 miles.

As you probably know yourself, it is very hard to value a modified car with as many modifications as we have added but if in perfect condition, we would have been looking in the region of £10k.
Unfortunately Dooby does need some attention and TLC so thought a realistic price of £7995 would give one lucky owner the chance to grab themselves a bargain.
We will be extremely fussy as to who we sell Dooby to so please only apply if you are a genuine Subaru or modified car enthusiast and not a boy racer looking for an extremely fast road car. We are more interested in selling Dooby to the right person and not just someone who is waving pound notes at us.

Anyway, thank you for reading our story and if you are interesed, please either email danielfennell@hotmail.com or call 07770 222232.

Brendan Fennell, chairman of GTO owners club. I might be mistaken but I thought he was a family member of yours. I still remember the 354 bhp R5 which was featured in the Max Power covered rolling road shootout, heady days!

Thanks for the replies.
I don't know Brendan Fennell. Good surname though.
I am based in Reading.
I remember the GTT well. It hit 182mph on the dyno at Power Engineering as well at some stupidly high revs.
The boost did not come on until 6k as we were running a GT25, far to big for the GTT. Happy days
