Here's what to say on inquiring.
We'll take the car to a good 4wd rolling road.
If it makes 780bhp I'll give you £30K
If it doesn't you sell it to me for £10K
Either way, you're on to a winner!

And I think the JUN car will put out about 900bhp on UK petrol, and made 980bhp in Japan... Nonetheless likely to be the most powerful GTR in the UK, though its not been on UK rollers.
Its a bit yellow for me

polarbearit, 780bhp is more than feasible on these cars as the basic engine (originally from the 1972 240Z), was massively over-engineered. It is the ancilliaries that are important, i.e. the Turbos Must be two VV Large ones, the Intercooler Must be one the size of a small terrace, the Injectors must be the hosepipe variety, etc. Blowdog will give you the definitive idea of what these beasts are capable of.
P.S. I wouldn't buy this one because it isn't an R32 but that's just my preference.

I like the idea of the R32's an all.... there are a couple of R32s that have re-appeared on Autotrader recently allegedly ~400-500 bhp, anyone know or been to see them?
How long is the transmission likely to last on that ~780bhp one if it really has got that much power?
Also it's strange the way that advert is worded: "780bhp available with 3 atmospheres of boost" is that like the potential is there if you spend another £20K on it getting the boost that high....

Chris, I'm pretty well aware of the RB26DETT's potential, but AFAIK the most power run on UK dynos by a GTR is 714bhp (Gary @ GT-Art), and I believe there are a couple of similarly powerful GTRs in the UK, probably Nano @ Option and possibly Ronny's Abbey Motorsport tuned car, but none that have recorded really big power.
Anyway I believe the alleged 780bhp car is running standard ceramic turbos, so much above 400bhp is very unlikely!
Also worth noting that mega amounts of work is required to get past 600bhp reliably, (ie forged engine components etc)

Someone must of seen the Maxpower article or the Top Gear program to verify thses claims...
I for one know that over 400hp is easy...The latest R-34 was dynoed standard by Australian Wheels magazine and it produced well over 300hp.
Many R-33, R-34 here in NZ are running in excess of 500bhp in road trim.
This car must have the correct mods otherwise the seller would feel stupid....
Must have a upmarket ECU if different boost settings are available, and this kind of power was gained....

I stand corrected, yes I was aware that major work is required, I had assumed that the car in question had this work done. If it does still have it's std turbos I would imagine even 400bhp on UK fuel is optimistic.

Had a Skyline estate in brighton running 800bhp thing was lightning quick est cost of engine 35k blew up after 12,000 miles ,now runs "only" 525bhp at a cost of 15k for the full engine
Still very quick though

Think im correct in saying that the ceramic T3 turbo's that the R33 comes with are unreliable (read shatter!) at anything over 1 bar' ish and therefore 380-400bhp.
So i wonder if he's uprated the turbo's to steel blades?
Pete.

Hi Guys,
I have put a comment onto the gtr register stating where the guy is from that has advertised this car and suprise suprise he is involved with "Max Power" so his horsepower has doubled straight away then!!
As far as power goes i agree that Gaz Passingham's HKS car is registered at the mo as the top car with 714 bhp but, all i am saying that there is other cars out there with more power but the owners are not interested in "dyno results"..be it not just option's car and the lemon!!
Cheers
