Saw one on a rolling road day the other week and I was well impressed, it got 240 lbs/ft from 2700rpm - 5900rpm....

Anybody got anymore info on it as it could well be the next purchase...

I bought one a couple of weeks ago. What do you want to know? Standard spec (1998 on) is quoted as 276bhp @ 5500rpm / 268ftlbs @ 4000rpm. 2.5 24v 4-cam V6 intercooled twin turbo, 5-speed INVECS II auto with tiptronic sports mode on the Type S (the one to have), 4WD, LSDs, Active Yaw Control. Standard interior is cloth (or optional leather) with Nardi wood wheel or Sports interior with Recaros, carbon fibre-look dash and Momo wheel. Climate control, electric windows, folding mirrors, AM/FM cassette radio with 10-disc CD autochanger. Pretty pleased with mine , still getting to know it.

Thanks lads, so the manual gearbox isn't prefered I thought they would always be better than a semi-automatic..

Is there much in the way of performance upgrades availiable?
I surpose exhausts can be made, 2 cone filters, up the boost..

Mike,

There's nothing wrong with the manual gearbox version per se, just that it's a totally different car! With the manual version, you lose the Active Yaw Control, the flared arches, it runs on narrower tyres (205/55R16 rather than 225/50R16) on narrower rims (16x6JJ rather than 16X6.5JJ), but it costs the same new. Just less value for money, I guess, IMHO.

Why no AYC on manuals, the EVO 6s have it dont they.

You can get the usual exhaust and filters, dont know where from yet, not looked but seen a few with them on the net, an ecu remap might take it over 300bhp.

Does it have a decent-sized fuel tank (i.e. not a piddly little one like an Evo)?

Lee,
No idea why the manuals don't get AYC - I guess Mitsubishi have their reasons

Carl,
64 litre fuel tank so the range is more acceptable.

No AYC or ABS, in fact no traction control at all.

Built mainly for saloon racing in japan.

Quicker than the Auto 0-60 5.9 secs and loads of mid range torque

I really wonder about these larger size cars? Why doesn't someone compare the VR-4/Legacy B4 to their rally car cousins? Might these be able to keep up, on all but the most narrow roads? Might they be more stable and able in poor conditions- like a modern day UrQuattro?
