Very nice car. I drove a friends 2.8 quattro and really liked it. It's comfortable, looks good and goes fairly well. The 197bhp V6 engine is great. It sounds really nice when you open it up as well. 50mph - 140mph it kept up with a MY98 scoob. Really suprised me that.
Handling was a bit soft, steering vague and brakes were poor. That said I really liked the car.
They only problem is that they seem expensive for what they are.

Mark - thank you for your input.
The reason I am looking at a 2.8 Coupe is that the insurance works out at £704 fully comp, as opposed to £1,331 for a WRX or £710 for a 16v Golf GTi.
Privilege Insurance have not asked for a Cat 1 just an alarm (whereas for the WRX they want Cat1 + Tracker etc etc etc)
I am looking at a 1995 "M" plate 2.8 quattro with 70,000 miles for about £5,600.
I have always liked the look of the Audi (quite rare) and the S2 was Performance Car Magazine's car of the year in 1991 (or was it 1992)?

Bollox I can't read. I thought you were on about the A4 2.8 not the coupe. The Coupe has the 173bhp engine not the 193bhp engine. Sorry have a look at the link below anyway.

had a 2.2 quattro (no turbo) but it was a great car, have friends how are now on 2nd or 3rd coupes. Great build fully galvanised etc etc.
great long distances bigger than you think on the inside hugh boot with the back seats down.
I liked the way it handled, very stable at speed not so much fun as a scoob but you can drive it quickly very easily. Gentle sideways motion was the most it ever did really.
Sounds like a good price. I have seen several go way beyond 200,000 miles with very little go wrong.

I used to be in the Audi Owners Club, never had a coupe, but I'm sure there was a water pump problem with the 2.8 V6 (170 odd bhp version)which could cost big time if it went at the wrong time.
Fontain.co.uk are specialists and get them in now and again.
And yes Audis do understeer but my Quattro A4 COULD be chucked about
