30mpg out of a tdv8 around town
I sold my tdv6 earlier this year and managed 28 at best.
Not sure I've read about anyone on RRSPORT.co.uk managing what you're getting, sure it's a v8
Agree on the comfy drive though, shame about the reliability and the £500 a year VED

I considered replacing my Legacy with the recently replaced full size TDV8 as it is supremely luxurious, economical, now excellent value and ideal for what I need in winter doing rural home visiting in Scotland, but I am horrified by the reliability from speaking to owners, not just the odd internet story.
The TDV8 really does average 30mpg when I drove a friend's one recently, think it was 4.4 litre.

I know they are quoted as 30mpg but this is rarely achieved in the real world so great if your mates manages it
My V6 MY08 sport only managed 30+ on a motorway run.....
Saying that mpg wasn't the main reason I sold mine, it was LR reliability which is a shame because when trouble free the RRS was the best car I'd ever had.

Fantastic cars, but one word should be at the forefront of his purchase . . . warranty. As others have said, they're a dream when running. But they will break down, guaranteed.

Great cars. I probably change mines every year or so, i've currently got a 61 plate Vogue SE.
John B is correct on fuel economy on the 4.4 but on the 3.6 set yourself up for 21mpg.
Warranty is a must, they do suffer from electrical gremlins. Mines has just been in for a new turbo on the RH bank & the head unit was replaced as well due to cutting out & the rear entertainment system wasnt working either.
If you need to know anything about them give me a shout.

4.4 will easily achieve 29/30 mpg. New 8 speed gearbox makes a massive difference

I LOVE the XFR
Do like Land Rovers and Range Rovers too though - used to have a Discovery V8 ES7 - fantastic family motor - and fun round the country lanes too - could see over the hedges and get round quicker than in the Scoob

I was watching an old episode of auf wiedersehen pet today and oz (Jimmy Nail) told a Range rover joke.
What's the difference between a Range Rover and a hedgehog....................
A hedgehog has ****** on the outside
Made me laugh despite owning one in the past.

Am also contemplating getting one of these. Have seen a few high milers floating around for between £7 - 9k.
I naively always assumed the bigger the engine the lower the economy? How can a 4.4 give better MPG than a 3.6? Is it down to the box?
For upto £10k what's the best I can expect to get, want luxury and decent MPG - would it be a petrol one LPG'd or diesel?
Contracting at Jaguar Land Rover so really should know better lol

Fuel economy depends on lots of things, not least is the engine's ability to move the car.
If the engine is UNDER-powered, it has to work harder to shift the car, so uses more fuel.
My 2.5 litre tuned Scoob uses LESS fuel on a day-to-day basis than it did as a 2-litre untuned.
