30k which High end would you buy
ok so im toying with the idea of chipping the scoob in and buying some monster.
My project at work means that in the next 12 months i,ll be mainly at home.
What ive looked at are the following
Nissan GTR.
But its an 08 was there any diff on this model for servicing, Whats a GTR like to service outside of warranty many places do them etc etc.
BMW M6
Really cheap these, saying that there 90k new. any pros and cons on the service because its an M does that mean mega bucks, did the M6 have any expensive parts or silly daft issues. Rear wheel drive not happy with saying its got 500BHP :/
Aston Martin DB9
Im presuming servicing will be a joke ?
a Porsche
Which ? would like 4WD, and would give left nipple for a GT3, but still 40+

Jag XFR is in amongst that price, depends what your going for I suppose but is certainly a good car and wouldn't rule it out tbh, I personally like them, a lot of car for your buck so to speak compared to some of the other plush vehicles out there costing a lot more

Based on reports that ride comfort on the M6 is similarly good to the M5, it will be much better than the GTR. Both can be expensive to fix if something goes wrong. M5 has good traction in the dry, not driven in the wet. The GTR's traction in the wet is not what you might expect, but it is surprisingly competent in the winter.

GTR no 1 choice, if your looking at these cars then servicing shouldn't be a factor, get extra warranty if bothered so much, it's just the boxes on gtrs that can be a problem as to why you should get extra warranty.
M5 also a good choice.
And XFR is a good package for price and suprising to drive, that 5.0 v8 supercharge is something else and handles pretty well for a 4 dr saloon and yet feels light and nimble

I don't think people realise quite how expensive GTRs are to run. Massively.
Buying a supercar at the bottom end of the price bracket needs to be done with open eyes. Set aside a lot of cash for potential headaches!

Wow didn't realise some of the cars at the 30k mark such as golfs (not even special editions) and gt cotinentals (with 90k on the clock) .
but for me it would be c63 or new m3.

Of course, the one thing that hasn't been ascertained is the nature of the car you want.
Is it a daily-driver, does it need to have other duties? Etc etc.....
I'm slightly biased (to some extent) as I've gone the Porsche route (3 months into ownership and still can't gt used to saying that! )
I looked at an M6, but despite the VFM on purchase, the running costs are very high indeed. And despite being a straight-line weapon, it's still a BIG car in the corners. Very good, but big.
It does look lovely though
GTR? Fantastic. Bit of a harsh ride (imho), but SUCH a capable car. Again, priced competitively on the used market now, but those running costs and maintainence are something to be cautious of.
DB9 - a thing of beauty. With a soundtrack to die for,but reliability is a question, as is running costs and servicing. More of a GT car than a hooning machine.
Porsche - £30k just about puts you in a 997 turbo. Aside from rubbish storage, a very good all-rounder. Beardies will say that 4wd is the work of the devil, as is water cooling. Each to their own imho.
£30k also puts you in a 996 gt3......
Fwiw, mine's only a lowly Carrera 4, but I use it every day and it works fine for me. Great mixture of practicality and cruising. It might only have 300bhp, but it's nice to use it when i can. And the running costs are very reasonable.
That said £30k also pus you in a Ferrari.... F360 (just) and almost into a 550.....
All great cars, but boils down to your requirements and how much you're prepared to commit financially to the upkeep.

I no a lad who paid 2.5k for 4 tyres on his GTR. Just build a 2.35 motor with 600bhp and it would keep up with or destroy most of the cars listed above! Don't get a Porsche. Over rated is an understatement. My best mate had a 996 turbo. Was like being in an old beetle. And wasn't that impressive either.

It doesn't really matter what either of us think about them, Porsche make fantastic cars and to suggest otherwise is daft.

I'd go for a 997 CS or C4S, if they fall into that price bracket. Though they'll probably be high mileage.
I'd avoid an Aston just because anything that goes wrong will be costly to fix.
I'd avoid a 997 Turbo at that price, as it will be high mileage.

Amusing that people who think various cars are in essence "****", rarely own them.
Each to their own, but at least drive and live with a car before commenting. Don't be dismissive of cars due to ignorance
Good example that, Daryl

kind of agree with above
would happily still spend the 30k but look a little lower down the ladder if you will, a 2 year old m3? rs4? depending on what you buy you could always use the change on a supercharger.....
