The 5 series have come a long way over the years and I still think they are one of the best cruisers out there.

No a fan of 3 series although they are good but I'd rather go for a 5 if I was in you're shoes.

i should have it in the next 30 mins.

You see im still in this Dilemma, every 3 series i see i dont even glance twice, its that plain,

even the 5 series are common now, when i get it im going to try make it look as nice as possible with the standard options,

IE big wheels Spoiler nice leather etc. but after speaking with the guys at Farnborough BMW, they all say the 3 series 330D.

as somebody on here said do you want to look like a salemen or middle management. id much prefer the image a 5 gives, but the power of the 330D.

but due to cost the 530 or 535 are just too silly daft on price. But also car tax just isnt justifyed on them 2

So im stuck with these 2, i suppose i could remove eveything and get a 525D.

Lets see how i go and then i,ll decided. should be a fun 2 weeks messing in an auto, looking forward to the relax in traffic

I'd be interested to hear what you think of the 330d. I'm put off by the electric steering (my 335d has a fully hydraulic system) but they seem to be going down well with owners.

Shame there's no new 335d!

F10 5 series looks useful but again put off by owner reports of dodgy steering.

In my experience there is only one 3 series (or 5) 'BMW', at an affordable price and ongoing costs, that doesn't appear to be like every other 3 / 5 series....

Do you have to buy new, Littleted?

its 250 quid extra to change from servotronic to sports, which is in essance the better for fast driving, but i wont be doing that i like the ease of servo.

Id also like a 335 but tax etc just wouldnt cut it, if i was buying myself then deffo.

These new 330s MPG is 50+ which is mega for something of that nature, the 535D only does 30 same as my scoob, so a nono for the amount of miles i do.

i do like the dials in this 5 series thay all look as though they are LCD even the needles very funky
Have to say it is pretty Luxury in these BMWs , coming from the manual astra VXR Honda TYpe R Scood era, these things are another world,

Both the new 5 and 3 definitely have cracking interiors.

The 330ds mpg is just astonishing for the power and torque. I get low 30s at best in mine. Not bad for the bhp but a fair bit behind some comparable newer kit. Can get 400 miles on a tank though which is handy!

Put pics up when you get them!

Interested to see how it compares with my E92.

Coupe, yes.

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...8/DSCN0484.jpg

Currently awaiting a new DMF and clutch due to the dreaded clutch judder.
Possible 2-3 week wait for the parts and the car is at the dealers with the gearbox out!

Hence the new 3 series coming tomorrow courtesy of Enterprise car hire....

Oh cr4p. A mates just went too and out of warranty. One thing an auto can't suffer from.

Another mate got a nice spec 328i courtesy car, the 4 pot but pokey new petrol one. Decent car.

Ours is only 13 months old, thankfully....

The new uprated items are an apparent permanent fix.
Apparently.

If image doesn't matter and the extra space isn't essential then the 3 series is the choice.

I have the 535d MS and it is really boring to drive despite a very.good engine. The car is a great place to be ie superbly put together but no fun. The 520d will be an absolute pos as a fun car as it won't even have anywhere near the poke of my car.

520d to me makes no sense at all if you want any enjoyment from driving

think your right DIng, ive been out again today love the car but its a novalty thing, not very fast when i floor it, but super easy to drive.

Not really too bothered about throwing it round corners etc, dont do that now in scoob. But would like sub 6 seconds 0-60 of which thet 330d Has. cos then i can race my m8 whos about to get his Bi Turbo Audi a6

thats what u need next Ding, that A6

Definitely don't need an A6 Ted! I've made that mistake once and paid heavily for it. Like you I felt I had got to the stage in life where I didn't need a drivers car, two small kids in the car and all that. I never drove my previous M5 to anywhere near its limit and so felt a car like that was wasted on me.

How very very wrong I was! Though I appreciate things are different for you as it's a company car.
When I can afford to change the next car will have to bear the letters M, AMG, RS etc.

ok 520s gone back, it was very nice inside comfy heated seats when right up to my neck.

BUT was boring as hell, and not fast at all. Plus i kept wheel spinning back wheels. not confident pulling out.

So 330 comes friday lets see if that satisfys my speed

Yup. Even with 300 BHP it causes your testosterone level to drop and c8ck to shrink.
