New Dog, New Car Needed!
Ladies and Gents, I need your recommendations for the best Estate car for carrying a Golden Retriever (he’s going to be huge) around in.
I have about £5k to spend, and given that this is Non-Scooby forum, I’m guessing it shouldn't be a Subaru.
Cheers
Martin

I had an audi a6 estate for my two but in the end swapped for a disco, just be ware that once the dog smell gets in in is VERY hard to remove so what ever you pay the car will be worthless when you sell it.

using a Volvo V40 1.9d for my Black lab. Prior to this, he was getting used to an Audi S4 Avant.
Used to surprise a few people as he went past them, looking out the window!

For that sort of cash I'd say you wouldn't go too far wrong with a Ford, Mondeo or Focus estate. Not enough for a BMW or VAG variant really. Volvos are also Fords

Don't have any experience with them personally but I would check those Vauxhall Signums out.
Well within your price range and seem to get allot for the money.

go for a 2.0 ltr turbo (most reliable engine) which has a good spread of power.
go for a late facelift model - design if you want sport pack or elite for leather clad armchair seats.
have a look at the vectra-c forum - they will give you advice.

I'm in the same boat. I got a GSD puppy two months ago and now at just under six months old he's already as big as most of the Labs he meets in the local playing field.
I've got a Leon Cupra which funnily enough replaced my old Wagon last summer.
I had two Classic Wagons over the past seven years so even though another Scoob would be right for the dog and I know it'd be a great car I fancy something different.
I've got in mind an E46 3 Series 330I Touring as I'd still like something sporty and I've always fancied one of those BMWs, though I have heard the interiors aren't that spacey
I've been looking at Autotrader and Pistonheads and there's plenty out there in my budget (£4k - £5k) including the post 2003 ones with the 6 speed gearbox.
I had thought I could wait until the summer to get a new car but I was driving the other day and the dog had his head right in the front part of the car so new car time is gonna have to be soon!
