Zafria 1.6 2008 Petrol - Wouldnt Start
Hi all
well after a year of owning the car this morning it would not start, it seems to be turning over but would not fire. To be fair it was turning over very fast as there was no compression.
Anyway i tried to bump it and still nothing. Not firring at all.
So i pulled up and turned it over a few times then pressed the gas a few times then it fired a little but still wouldnt run.
it seemed that the more i pressed the gassed the more it would fire then it came to life but with a massive flat spot so i had it about 2000RPM for about 2 minutes and it was ticking over.
just been out again it fired up ok but had the flat spot until it warmed up.
The car has only done 30,000 miles
anyone any ideas
my thoughts was fuel starvation...... or could it be a EGR Valve hence the fast turning over
cheers guys

Our V reg 1.6 Astra was like that, don't use form3 days absolute pig to start. Not got it now so no idea what the problem was, I suspected fuel filter needed changing but have no idea really!!

These have a carbon cannister located behind the drivers side wing.
It is part of the emission control system
Best way to start any of these from cold is to bury the throttle 2 or 3 times, then turn the key whilst giving it half throttle
Should then start first time every time

Sticky rings. Quite a common problem on the vauxhalls, a mate of mine has bought loads off ebay as non runners, a drop of oil down the bores, leave overnight, and hey presto, it runs!
