997.2 GT3 - 1:23.30
997.2 Turbo S - 1:23.41
997.1 C2S - 1:24.6
Boxster Spyder - 1:24.7
E92 V8 M3 1:25.1
SL65 AMG Black 1:25.2
Cayman R - 1:25.5
New M5 1:25.7
Aston V12 Vantage 1:25.8
BMW 1M - 1:25.9
370Z - 1:27.1
TTRS - 1:27.3 (18" wheels) / 1:26.3 (19" wheels)

It is up against some pretty hot competition in that table though.
The Boxster does well, is the Spyder much faster than the "normal" S? Isn't that the really expensive one or is that the Speedster?

Must be a manual car They're nothing special around the track to be fair.
The howfast event is also held at Bedford where its open to members of the public, current leaderboard, TTRS in 9th spot..

John - if I start telling you about the Spyder and just how different it is from an 'S' I'll be accused of trying to justify my purchase by certain people
Suffice to say, it's the lightest car Porsche make today (1275kg).
Basic price of £47k.
Leo - didn't take you long

The Evo list shows where the TTrs fits in against all these other standard cars, if you mapped it and decated it you would jump from 340 to 420 bhp but to make it fair you would have to increase all the other cars by the same amount. The Evo list is for standard cars, any heavily modded car could be up there with the 4.0 with enough money chucked at it!!

Couldn't care less which was quickest round a track
I'd only be interested in the Aston even it was behind the Seat

I suppose we all see these figures in different ways. To me the M cars seem to stand out. Given the fact that they are so practical and relatively cheap they put in mighty impressive lap times.
The m3 is only 6/10ths of a second behind the spyder let can seat four, is packed full of toys and is no more expensive.

That, and the M3 I drove was so far behind the Spyder in the fun factor that it just doesn't interest me.
To be completely honest, I wouldn't care if the Spyder was slower than a diesel Renault Laguna round a track - knowing what I know about it now, I wished I'd bought one when they first came out.
I've missed 18 months of fun
No!

You make a very valid point, but we all don't want or need practicality.
That, and the M3 I drove was so far behind the Spyder in the fun factor that it just doesn't interest me anymore.

For me,no roof makes it a less anaesthetised experience
Just getting round to why my mx5 is great fun despite being slower than said diesel renault.Well, probably every diesel!
Probably going off thread but don't really know what thread is

I agree about the fun factor and it's something that is not considered in lap times. I drove the M3 V8 and wasn't particularly impressed tbh, so I'm not for one minute trying to put it on a pedestal.
However this thread is talking about lap times around a particular circuit. Based on that you have to give more kudos to the four seater fully loaded price equivalent M3 than a so called stripped out low weight cloth roofed two seater.
I'd be surprised if the boxster wasn't more fun to drive but based on these lap times alone (as flawed as they are) the M3 imho stands out.
Agreed that not everybody needs practicality but the M3 still provides it AND puts in a very similar lap time for about the same amount of money

I actually started this thread as a **** take for our long suffering TTRS owner
But having digested the lap times and cars involved, it serves a purpose to show those that thought of the Boxster as a tarts car that isn't up to much that actually - its pretty handy round a track against supposedly ' better ' opposition.
And yes - kudos to the 4 seater - do-it-all's.

Actually Zip I think I've mentioned before, there's a Boxster Spyder goes to the track days at Donington and the two guys that own it just keep taking it in turns thrashing it relentlessly round without a break. All the GTR's, BMW's, Scoobs etc etc all have to stop after five laps or so for a cool down but not the Spyder. It does have carbon brakes which obviously helps.
