This assumes that there is no restriction to flow from inlet or exhaust system and valves stay the same size.
Formula:
maxpower = 35 x 35 x 3.1416/4 x 8 = 7696.92 sqmm
max power = (valve adjustment) 7696.92 x 1.10 = 8466.612
maxpower = 8466.612/30 = 282
maxpower = 282.22bhp
Explanation:
You just find the valve area diameter squared x Pi, multiply by 8 cause there are 8 inlet valves in the engine. adjust for an extra 10% area because its a 16V motor (for an 8 V you would decrease the area, depending on whether it was parallel or inclined etc)
then you divide by 30 becasue its roughly 30mm per hp.

Too complicated mate........ jusy strip out the rear parcel shelf and seats and plonk in another 172 engine...........
