Honda Civic SiR II engine mods
#1
Just wondering if anybody had any experience of tuning this engine.
The car in question is a 92 Model and has the phase 2 B16A engine (With Hydraulic Clutch).
It is being put into my brothers Rally Cross Mini and being a Jap Import car apparently puts out 168 BHP as standard. Currently the only modification in an induction kit of unknown origin.
From what I have read the easiest mod is to simply use the Type R camshafts and valvesprings. We have bought a mappable ECU and the car will be set up on a rolling road once completed.
So anybody any other ideas about (reasonably cheap) mods and how much power we can realistically expect.

AEM has created a plug in fully mappable ecu for B16A series, it was about 1500USD and comes with a basic map. Also you can use many different brands of cams, exhasuts, and bits and pops ... including turbo kits...
ps: Apexi Vafc seems the most popular fuel mapping and vtec engagement point adjusting device so far..

Supercharging/turbocharging/nitrous is completely out of the question as the rules don't allow it!!
Apart from that I think anything goes. We have already got the Programmable ECU on order and it is a DTA http://www.dtafast.co.uk/
So anybody any idea how much power we can expect if we change the camshafts and valvesprings for Type R items??

Obviously this depends on how much money you want to spend but you can change valves, valve spring, cams etc to make one seriously potent engine...
