Default BMW 730D

Been looking at one of these recently and am hugely impressed with it. Took one out for a test drive yesterday from the local main dealer and it drives like a dream with every imaginable goody

It's not on of the usual models but I was wondering if the great Scoobynet collective had any opinions about them? Any known problems?

Had one for the weekend when I was thinking of getting one a few years ago. Back then the 3 litre diesel wasn't hugely efficient, but with the new model it is much improved. The only thing I didn't like about it was the size of the car, it is huge in width & length!!

Is that based on real knowledge or just an assumption that it will go wrong. What I'm looking for is any known issues to be concerned about such as the 3 series sub frame issue or the vanos problem etc

Well from friends experience - not a good one.

He had many electrical issues with a brand new 730d (2007 model I believe) - so many in fact that he sold it within a year.
He had it as a company car (his own company) and actually had 2 others in the company that all went wrong on numerous occasions.

I can't help with specific issues though, sorry.
