My missus had the 2.0 ltr when we first started goin out, was an 02 plate and it was crap, only good point I can remember was the gearbox must of been out a golf, but its a horible wee car, very plasticy, suspension and steering feels spongy and numb, and the dash is like a surfboard with dials stuck on it, also very slow for a 2.0 ltr.

Mine is definitely a project. Drove it into the garage and started stripping it. Oh my god. Haha. Yep, can still get everything from German Swedish or specialists. Great cars. Rusty. But great!

Lol. You can do my beetle if you want. Haven't had a chance to touch it in a very very long time. Will be a 20 year project at this rate. Shame, spent a small fortune on it already. Haha.

Stay away from the 2 litre. Terrible engine. If you can, Get a TDi as they are much better. I do like them. As said, Based on a MK4 Golf.

been looking at a few for my daughters friend (now got one) as said above based on a mk4 golf, if looking at a rag top make sure the rear window is still bonded in ok and the fabric is not spliting around the rear window, also make sure all the windows work nice and smooth as the motors do go wrong also the clips that hold windows in place brake and vw will charge you around 150-180 to replace. but you can get the clips and repaire kit off ebay for around 30 quid,if possable get sombody with a vcds/vag-com to scan the car before you buy one vw also alterd the cambelt change time to 4 yrs and 40k not as handbook says 80k
