Urgent! Location of the recirculating dump valve on an Audi A3 1.8turbo
#1
Right heres the deal. My old man has just bought one of the above and i'm going to see him soon. I want to take the dumpvalve off the cossie and put it on the Audi so i can show him the benefits of having one. Does anyone know where it is in the engine bay?
For info, its a bailey piston dump valve which has been on an STI V and a 3-door cossie.
Cheers in advance,
astraboy.

There is a cover over the engine, probably with an Audi badge on. 4 screws to undo (1/4 turn each). Lift the plastic cover off. As you look at it, top right of the engine is where the dv is. There should be a raised bit on the engine cover that you removed. It sits under there. There is a small vaccum tube into the top, with a little clip on it, a bigish pipe goes into the left hand side as you look at it. This is a spring clip that is a bu99er to get off (big mole grips help. There is also one clip underneath the DV which is a s0d to undo. To change it I'd recommend a jubilee clip(on the one underneath)and a cable tie for the small vaccum pipe on top. Takes about 5-10 mins to do.

Astraboy,
I had a Seat Ibiza Cupra 20V 1.8T, same engine as A3. Remove big plastic engine cover and it sits in line with the bulkhead slightly to the right of middle of car. It's a small black plastic piece of crap. I replaced mine with a Forge as it failed after 500 miles, a known fault with these models.
Post crossed with TaviaRS. Just note the original pipe on the top of the DV was to tight to get on the Forge so I had to split the webbing on the pipe to get it to fit. If you have to do this make sure you tighten the jubilee clips well otherwise the exposed rubber will split.

i didnt think d-valves worked well with the a3 1.8t and golf gti because they are low pressure turbo's (instead o going FFTTSSHHHH, it they sound like someone breathing out heavily)
wha sort of boost do they run as std ?
