Got an E90 330d M-sport and it's not that bad on running costs. Average MPG over the last 2 years is ~43mpg and that's mainly commuting in traffic, and motorway driving at 85-90.

Servicing isn't that costly IMO - about £150 for an inspection service, and £300 for oil change, brake fluid and filters (main dealer)

Rear tyres used to be very pricey (£380 each at the dealer), but they've come down a lot in the past year or so and can be got for about £250 now. Fronts £200.

All in all, excellent cars - performance you get for the running costs is almost unbeatable IMO - they even sound good under hard acceleration! (think more petrol V8 noise than usual diesel clatter!)

Only bad point about the car is the standard speakers are shocking, but that's an easy and cheap upgrade if you want (unless you manage to find one with the factory fit upgrade)

Love my E92 330d, performance is good, well put together, returns around 40mpg. £250 quid gets them chipped to 280ish bhp and 400lb/ft torque! Running costs - set of tyres was £500 (non runflats - transforms the ride). Otherwise done 10K+ miles and not needed anything else yet, service due in around 4k miles, quote from an indi for a 3rd oil change service was £305.

Where do they develop the torque ??? I'm guessing quite low down the rev range as per most diesels. 400 Ftlbs @ 2000 Rpm ish must make it a great overtaking tool.

Tell a lie the pre facelift 231bhp unit gives 368lb ft standard and 275bhp 440 lb/ft chipped! Some chips claim 285bhp 515lb/ft!

Big whack comes in at 1.75-2k then pretty much full torque by 2.5k.
